Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Ajit Pawar Expresses Grief Over Accident; Orders Inquiry
Pune, October 2026 : One labourer was killed and another injured after a heap of soil and murrum collapsed during the construction of a roadside embankment near a flyover on the Pune-Solapur National Highway at Rajwadi village in Indapur taluka.
The injured labourer was immediately rescued and admitted to the Indapur Sub-District Hospital. His condition is stable. Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Ajit Pawar has expressed grief over the accident and directed officials to conduct an inquiry into the incident.
The accident took place at around 10 am on October 30, 2026, while work on the roadside embankment was underway near the flyover. A heap of soil and murrum suddenly collapsed. Three labourers were working at the site at the time. One of them managed to save himself by acting promptly. Of the remaining two labourers, one was safely rescued, while the other died after being trapped beneath the debris.
As soon as information about the incident was received, local residents and teams from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), police and Revenue Department rushed to the spot. Rescue and relief operations were immediately launched, and the injured labourer was taken to hospital.
The administration is taking the necessary action in connection with the incident.
