Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav met delegations of the OBC Mahasabha at Samatva Bhavan, his official residence, on Friday morning. He said that reservation for Other Backwards Classes (OBCs) in Madhya Pradesh was a matter of utmost importance and that the state government was committed to protecting their interests. He said the state government was making every effort to ensure a fair and legally sound resolution.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said the state government had convened an all-party meeting and consulted OBC organisations before firmly presenting its case before the High Court. He emphasised that the government was working towards a proper resolution of the matter, not to delay it, and that its policy and intent on OBC reservation were clear.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that the state government had directed a detailed, point-by-point examination of the Madhya Pradesh High Court’s October 9, 2026, judgment on OBC reservation and instructed that the state’s case be strongly presented before the Supreme Court. Acting on these directions, the Office of the Advocate General, Madhya Pradesh, filed a Special Leave Petition (SLP) in the Supreme Court on Friday evening, October 16, 2026, in the case State of Madhya Pradesh vs. Ashita Dubey and Others.
The delegations submitted memoranda to Chief Minister Dr. Yadav regarding the High Court’s October 9, 2026, judgment on 27% OBC reservation in Madhya Pradesh. They sought a constitutional solution based on updated data and measures to protect the interests of OBC candidates.
