Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said that excessive rainfall has led to flood-like situations in some parts of the state. In such circumstances, ensuring citizens' safety remains the government’s top priority. During this difficult hour, every officer and employee of the government, administration and tehsil-level machinery should extend full cooperation in relief and rescue operations with sensitivity, promptness and coordination. No citizen should be left alone in distress. The Chief Minister directed all Collectors, Superintendents of Police, Home Guards, field officers and agencies engaged in relief and rescue operations to remain highly alert, vigilant and prepared to handle any situation as long as the monsoon remains active in the state.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav reached the SDRF State Command Centre at the Home Guard office on Saturday, where he interacted with the Superintendents of Police of all districts through video conference. The Chief Minister reviewed the rainfall situation in their respective districts and sought detailed updates.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav directed that people whose homes have been inundated by floodwaters should be shifted immediately to relief camps. All affected persons should be provided food, clothing, essential dry rations, and other necessary supplies without delay. They should also be provided relief assistance from the government as per the prescribed norms.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav also conducted a live review of rescue operations underway to safely evacuate people stranded in floods in various districts through the video conference. He directly interacted with Superintendents of Police, Home Guard personnel and rescue team officials regarding the situation arising from excessive rainfall in Panna, Guna, Rewa, Satna and districts of eastern Madhya Pradesh.
Officials informed the Chief Minister that the State Disaster Emergency Response Force (SDERF) is conducting a rescue operation in Panna following flooding in the Kilkila River.
Chief Secretary Shri Ashok Barnwal, Additional Chief Secretary, Home Department, Shri Sanjay Kumar Shukla, Director General of Police Shri Kailash Makwana, ADG Home Guards Sushri Pragya Richa Srivastava, ADG Intelligence Shri Anshuman Yadav, Secretary to the Chief Minister Dr. Sudam Khade, State Head of SDERF and other senior officials were present at the meeting.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav reviewed the rainfall situation in various districts, relief and rescue operations in affected areas and the preparedness of the administration. Reviewing rescue operations and the status of teams deployed in vulnerable areas, he directed the NDRF, SDRF and administrative machinery to work with full preparedness and ensure immediate relief and rescue assistance to affected people whenever required. The Chief Minister directed officials to accord the highest priority to the safety of the people of the state and ensure continuous monitoring of disaster-management arrangements, better coordination among departments and prompt action in any emergency situation.
CM Dr. Yadav Interacts with Media Representatives
After issuing directions to district officials through video conference, Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said while interacting with media representatives that rainfall has continued across almost the entire state. Except for western Madhya Pradesh, most parts of the state have received good rainfall. In view of the situation, NDRF and SDRF teams have been deployed at various locations and are on full alert. With the assistance of disaster-management teams, more than 2,783 people have been successfully rescued over the past month. He said there is currently no indication of any major challenge over the next two to four days. However, all necessary preparations have already been put in place to deal with sudden flood-like situations. He said the effectiveness of these preparations is reflected in the fact that there has been no significant loss of life or property in the state so far. The Chief Minister said the police force and relief teams have also discharged their responsibilities with full efficiency and readiness. In view of the possibility of rainfall in the coming days, the government remains continuously vigilant and is closely monitoring the arrangements.
As part of these efforts, a detailed review of flood and disaster management preparedness was conducted today to ensure swift and effective action in any emergency and safeguard the lives, property and livestock of the people of Madhya Pradesh.
