Raipur, September 2026: Acting promptly on a complaint received through the Chief Minister’s Helpline, the Mineral Department in Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi district has seized eight tractors for allegedly transporting sand and grit illegally.
The action is part of the district administration’s efforts to curb illegal mining, excavation and transportation of minerals, while ensuring timely resolution of complaints received from citizens.
During inspections and field-level surveillance across different areas of the district, the Mineral Department team caught the vehicles allegedly transporting minerals in violation of regulations. Two tractors carrying sand were seized from Khanta village, two from Rumga, and one each from Chichgohna, Korja and Lalpur. In addition, one tractor transporting grit illegally was seized from Kotmi.
Seized Vehicles Kept in Police Custody
The seized vehicles have been placed in safe custody in accordance with prescribed procedures. Four tractors are being kept at Gaurela Police Station, three at Kotmi Police Outpost, and one at Marwahi Police Station.
Action against the owners of the seized vehicles will be initiated under the provisions of the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act and other applicable regulations. The department is conducting investigations and proceeding with the required legal formalities.
Focus on Timely Resolution of CM Helpline Complaints
Along with strengthening enforcement against illegal mining and transportation, the district administration is giving priority to the prompt and satisfactory resolution of complaints raised by citizens.
District Collector Vijay Dayaram K. has directed officials to examine complaints received through the CM Helpline seriously and ensure their timely and effective resolution.
Following the complaint in this case, the Mineral Department immediately conducted a field inspection. After violations were detected, the vehicles were seized without delay.
Continuous Field Surveillance to Curb Illegal Transport
The enforcement operation was carried out by Aditya Mankar, Assistant Mining Officer; Sujit Kanwar, Mining Inspector; Shivkumar Lahre; Sahib Gani; and Satish Sahu, along with Nagar Sainik personnel.
The district administration said enforcement against illegal mining, excavation and transportation of minerals would continue. It appealed to people to comply with mineral regulations and transport minerals only with valid documents.
From Complaint to Action
The administration is strengthening the mechanism through which complaints registered on the CM Helpline are forwarded to the concerned departments for examination and necessary action. Field-level implementation of this system is intended to ensure that issues raised by citizens are addressed promptly.
Action against illegal mineral transportation is also expected to help protect government revenue and promote the regulated and responsible use of mineral resources in the district.
