More than 5.5 lakh citizens benefit through initiatives in education, healthcare, skill development, water conservation and environmental protection

Mumbai, October 2026 : Active participation of the industry alongside the government is extremely important for the overall and sustainable development of Maharashtra. Initiatives undertaken through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds in the fields of education, healthcare, skill development, water conservation, renewable energy and environmental protection are accelerating the state's development. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said that various initiatives of Tata Capital were bringing positive changes to the lives of economically weaker sections, deprived communities, tribal people, women and youth.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said that more than 5.5 lakh citizens in Maharashtra had benefited from Tata Capital's CSR initiatives over the past five years. Approximately 30 per cent of the company's total CSR expenditure across the country had been spent in Maharashtra, while various facilities had reached more than 37 lakh people nationwide.

Promoting a Brighter Future Through Education

To ensure that talented students do not have to discontinue their education due to financial constraints, scholarships have been provided to more than 6,400 students in Maharashtra under the 'Pankh Scholarship' initiative. Special efforts are also being made to support higher education for tribal girls in Palghar.

Under the financial literacy programme, more than 85,000 students in government schools have been guided on financial transactions and responsible borrowing. Skill training in artificial intelligence, robotics and STEM subjects is being provided to more than 50,000 students in the municipal corporation areas of Mumbai and Thane.

Employment Opportunities Through Skill Development

More than 26,000 youth, women, tribal people and persons with disabilities in the state have received skill training under the 'ProAspire' initiative. With an emphasis on banking, financial services, insurance, entrepreneurship and professional skills, efforts are being made to create opportunities for employment, self-employment and financial independence.

Comprehensive Eye Care Through 'Aarogyatara'

Under the 'Aarogyatara' initiative, efforts have been made to extend eye-care services to more than two lakh citizens in Mumbai, Thane and Palghar districts. In collaboration with reputed hospitals, facilities are being provided for the detection and treatment of cataracts, glaucoma and vision problems, as well as necessary surgeries.

Initiatives related to cancer prevention, awareness, preliminary screening and specialised treatment have also benefited more than 30,000 citizens. These include screening for breast and lung cancer, awareness programmes on cervical cancer, and assistance for medical equipment and treatment.

'Jaladhar' Strengthens Rural Water Security

The 'Jaladhar' initiative has helped strengthen water security for more than 1.30 lakh citizens in over 60 villages across Palghar, Ahilyanagar and Satara districts. More than 600 water sources have been revived, and the annual water storage capacity created is estimated to exceed 8,500 lakh litres.

An integrated watershed development programme is being implemented across 10,000 hectares in 10 villages of Satara district. Along with water conservation, the initiative is also promoting sustainable agriculture.

Solar Power Brings Light to Remote Settlements

Under 'The Green Switch' initiative, solar-powered electricity has been provided to more than 580 households without access to electricity in 19 remote settlements across Palghar, Thane and Raigad districts.

Electricity has been made available for household use, streetlights and public buildings. A system for maintaining the projects has also been developed with the participation of local village electricity committees.

Planting 30,000 Saplings for Environmental Conservation

Under the 'Vanaropan for Neutrality' initiative, more than 30,000 saplings belonging to over 40 varieties of native species have been planted using the Miyawaki method in the Parsik Hill area of Thane. This is helping conserve biodiversity and expand urban green spaces.

The combined participation of the government, industry and local communities will play an important role in building capable students through education, employment-ready youth through skill development, a healthy society through healthcare services and a stronger rural economy through water conservation.

Tata Capital's initiatives are strengthening efforts towards building an inclusive and sustainable Maharashtra.
