Hyderabad, Nov 2026: The Telangana Police Department is preparing to launch ‘Fit Cop’, an app-based health management initiative aimed at monitoring and improving the physical and mental well-being of more than 90,000 police personnel across the State.
Director General of Police C.V. Anand said on Friday that police personnel often struggle to prioritise their health because of demanding work schedules, stressful duties and professional responsibilities. He emphasised that maintaining good physical and mental health among the force was essential for delivering efficient public service.
The initiative, being developed with the support of the Helping Hand Foundation and other organisations, will operate as a Police Health Management Profile System. Under the proposed programme, personnel will be able to register their health details through a dedicated mobile application, named TG FitCop.
According to a release from the DGP's office, the department is preparing an action plan to implement the programme within the next 30 to 45 days.
The application will collect information on key health indicators and lifestyle factors, including diabetes, hypertension, Body Mass Index (BMI), existing medical conditions, physical activity, smoking and alcohol consumption. Police personnel across Telangana will be able to access the platform using their registered mobile phone numbers.
Based on the information submitted, users will be classified into three categories — low, moderate and high risk. This assessment is expected to help the department identify personnel who may require medical attention, further investigations or timely healthcare intervention.
Explaining the proposed support system, Helping Hand Foundation founder Salman said personnel would be contacted through a dedicated call centre according to their individual health risk levels. Those requiring additional medical support would be assisted in accessing diagnostic investigations, hospital-based treatment, health guidance and counselling.
The initiative is expected to play an important role in detecting potential health complications at an early stage, particularly kidney-related ailments, diabetes and hypertension. By identifying risks before they develop into serious medical conditions, the programme aims to encourage preventive healthcare and greater health awareness among police personnel.
The department plans to extend Fit Cop to all units and wings of the Telangana Police, ensuring that personnel across the State can benefit from the initiative.
DGP Anand expressed confidence that the programme would develop into an important institutional mechanism for protecting the health of police personnel and promoting their overall well-being.
Senior police officers, representatives of the Helping Hand Foundation and members of other participating organisations attended the meeting held to discuss the initiative.
