Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami Approves Absorption of Two Agniveers into 40th Battalion PAC

Dehradun, October 2026: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has approved a proposal to accommodate two Agniveers in the 40th Battalion of the Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) against available vacancies.

The two Agniveers belong to the first batch of recruits under the Indian Army’s Agnipath scheme, who are scheduled to complete their service and be released from the armed forces in November 2026. The state government’s decision aims to provide them with an opportunity to continue serving after their tenure in the Army.

According to a letter sent by a Joint Secretary to the Government of India, the first batch of Agniveers recruited under the Agnipath scheme is due to complete its service in November 2026. The Centre had sought the accommodation of two Agniveers from Uttarakhand as part of this process.

Chief Minister Dhami approved the proposal, allowing the two Agniveers to be accommodated against vacancies available in the 40th Battalion PAC.

Commenting on the decision, Dhami said the Agnipath scheme, launched under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, was strengthening the spirit of discipline, national service and dedication to duty among the country’s youth.

“The skills, experience and discipline that Agniveers acquire while serving in the Indian Army are invaluable assets for the nation. Our government respects their contribution and capabilities. We are committed to providing these young people, who have served the country, with further opportunities to serve the state and ensuring that Uttarakhand benefits from their military experience, discipline and professional skills,” the Chief Minister said.

He added that the Uttarakhand government remained committed to securing a bright future for the state’s youth and supporting their continued commitment to national service.
