Yogi Government Advances One Lakh Recruitment Drive With Over 17,000 Education Posts

Lucknow, October 2026: The Uttar Pradesh government’s Mission Rozgar is gaining momentum as the Yogi Adityanath government accelerates the process of filling vacant government posts to provide more employment opportunities to the state’s youth.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has set a target of recruiting candidates to one lakh government posts within six months. As part of this initiative, the recruitment process for 17,059 posts in the education sector is currently underway.

The recruitment advertisements issued by the Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission, Prayagraj, in 2026 cover important positions across higher education, secondary education and basic education departments.

The recruitment drive is expected to provide employment opportunities to a large number of young people while also addressing the shortage of human resources in educational institutions across the state.

2,047 Posts in Higher Education

According to commission chairman Prashant Kumar, 2,047 posts have been advertised in the Higher Education Department.

These include 111 posts of principals and 1,936 posts of assistant professors. The examination for assistant professor positions is proposed to be conducted on November 19 and 20, 2026.

The recruitment is expected to strengthen the availability of teaching staff in higher educational institutions while creating employment opportunities for qualified candidates.

3,504 Posts in Secondary Education

The Secondary Education Department accounts for 3,504 posts in the recruitment process.

These include 897 posts of assistant teachers and 2,607 posts of lecturers (PGTs).

The examination for assistant teacher posts is proposed for December 3 and 4, while the examination for lecturer positions is scheduled for December 15 and 16, 2026.

11,508 Posts in Basic Education

The largest share of the education-sector recruitment is in the Basic Education Department, where 11,508 posts of primary urban assistant teachers have been advertised.

The examination for these positions is proposed to be held on December 3 and 4, 2026.

In addition, a Special Teacher Eligibility Test (Special TET) is also being conducted under the Basic Education Department.

Education Sector Key to One Lakh Recruitment Target

The 17,059 education-sector posts advertised so far account for nearly 17 per cent of the government’s overall target of one lakh recruitments in six months.

The recruitment covers different levels of the education system, ranging from school education to higher education.

The posts include 11,508 primary urban assistant teachers, 2,607 lecturers, 1,936 assistant professors, 897 secondary assistant teachers and 111 principals.

The scale of recruitment highlights the role of the education sector in the state government’s employment initiative.

Recruitment to Strengthen Education System

The state government has emphasised transparent selection procedures and time-bound recruitment to fill vacant posts.

Large-scale appointments in the education sector are expected to serve a dual purpose — providing government employment to qualified youth while strengthening the availability of teachers and other academic personnel in schools, secondary educational institutions and colleges.

The recruitment drive is therefore being positioned not only as an employment initiative but also as a measure to improve the functioning of educational institutions across Uttar Pradesh.

Through Mission Rozgar, the government is seeking to accelerate recruitment across departments and provide young people with greater access to government employment while ensuring that essential vacancies are filled in a timely manner.
