YSRCP Accuses Andhra Government of Failing to Complete Houses Started Under Jagan

Ambati Murali Krishna alleges 11 lakh houses remain incomplete, questions government over drought relief, farm prices and welfare delivery

Tadepalli (Andhra Pradesh), Oct 2026 : YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) Ponnur constituency coordinator Ambati Murali Krishna on Sunday accused the TDP-led coalition government in Andhra Pradesh of failing to complete housing projects initiated during the tenure of former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy.

Murali Krishna said the government should first complete houses already sanctioned and under construction before claiming credit for providing homes to poor families. He alleged that thousands of beneficiaries were still waiting for their houses to be completed.

According to Murali Krishna, during Jagan’s tenure, house sites were provided to 31.19 lakh families and 17,005 YSR Jagananna Colonies were established across the state. He said the previous government sanctioned 22,80,358 houses and completed more than nine lakh of them.

He alleged that the present government had not constructed a single new house during the past two-and-a-half years and had left around 11 lakh houses at various stages of construction unfinished.

Murali Krishna further alleged that the TDP had filed more than 1,000 cases in courts seeking to prevent the distribution of house-site pattas. He claimed that Jagan approached the Supreme Court and secured relief to enable their distribution.

On Amaravati, he alleged that the government had approached the court over house-site pattas for 50,000 poor families and subsequently cancelled them, leaving the beneficiaries without a place to live.

The YSRCP leader also questioned why the state’s drought situation was not raised during a meeting attended by Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. He said 388 of Andhra Pradesh’s 688 mandals had been declared drought-affected, including mandals in Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s Kuppam constituency.

Murali Krishna sought clarity on minimum support prices for paddy, cotton, maize, red gram, green gram and black gram, alleging that farmers were struggling to secure remunerative prices for their produce.

Responding to Civil Supplies Minister Nadendla Manohar’s call for an inquiry into alleged irregularities in the housing programme, Murali Krishna said the YSRCP was ready to face any investigation. He also challenged the government to order an inquiry into the alleged rice-related issue in Kakinada.

On local body elections, Murali Krishna said the YSRCP was not opposed to the polls but wanted accurate voter lists, including clarity over deceased voters and alleged bogus entries.

He said declining welfare payments and difficulties faced by farmers in obtaining fair prices were putting pressure on rural economies and urged the government to address these concerns.
