Prime Minister Modi Gives Maharashtra’s Development a New Direction: Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis
Maharashtra Congratulates PM on Historic Longest Continuous Service
New Delhi, June 2026: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Wednesday congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi on completing a historic milestone of 4,399 consecutive days in office as India’s elected Prime Minister, making him the longest-serving elected Prime Minister in continuous service. He said that Prime Minister Modi has played an unwavering role in building a new and self-reliant India and has also provided a transformative direction to Maharashtra’s development over the past 12 years.
Speaking to the media at Maharashtra Sadan in New Delhi, Fadnavis said that the Prime Minister’s 4,399 days in office represent much more than a numerical achievement. According to him, the period marks a significant chapter in India’s comprehensive development and progress.
The Chief Minister noted that during Modi’s tenure, millions of Indians have been lifted out of poverty and the country has witnessed unprecedented growth in infrastructure. Extensive networks of roads, railways, ports, airports, expressways, and modern public infrastructure have been developed across the nation. He said India has emerged as one of the world’s leading economies and has made remarkable strides in economic development.
Fadnavis highlighted the Centre’s efforts to support farmers through irrigation projects, water conservation initiatives, and record investments in agriculture. He said the vision of “Atmanirbhar Bharat” (Self-Reliant India) is now visible across the country. India has significantly strengthened its defence sector and moved toward self-sufficiency, transforming from a major importer of defence equipment into a nation exporting defence products worth thousands of crores of rupees.
He also praised India’s digital transformation under Modi’s leadership, stating that initiatives such as UPI and digital payment systems have become global models of innovation. Referring to the Prime Minister’s guiding principle of “Vikas Bhi Aur Virasat Bhi” (Development Alongside Heritage), Fadnavis said Modi has successfully balanced modernization with the preservation of India’s cultural legacy.
Expressing gratitude for the Centre’s support to Maharashtra, the Chief Minister said the state has benefited immensely from several flagship projects during the last 12 years. These include major irrigation schemes, the proposed Vadhvan Port, an extensive highway network, metro rail projects, railway modernization, the Navi Mumbai International Airport, and numerous other infrastructure initiatives.
He remarked that many projects which previously existed only on paper are now becoming reality due to sustained support from the Central government.
Fadnavis also praised Prime Minister Modi’s sensitivity toward Maharashtra’s water scarcity challenges. He recalled that during the severe drought of 2015, Modi personally supported initiatives such as Jalyukt Shivar and facilitated efforts to complete nearly 100 long-pending dam projects in the Vidarbha and Marathwada regions.
Calling it Maharashtra’s good fortune to have a leader who responds so promptly and sensitively to the state’s concerns, Fadnavis extended heartfelt congratulations to Prime Minister Modi on behalf of Maharashtra’s 125 million citizens and wished him a long, healthy, and successful life.
The Chief Minister also spoke about the state government’s recently announced farm loan waiver package worth Rs 36,000 crore, benefiting around 5.6 million farmers. He clarified that all eligible farmers with outstanding loans would be covered and assured that up to Rs 2 lakh of agricultural loans would be waived irrespective of when the loan was taken.
Addressing concerns over fertilizer availability, Fadnavis said adequate stocks are currently available for farmers. He explained that certain restrictions have been introduced due to global supply conditions and India’s dependence on imported fertilizers. The measures are intended to prevent hoarding and artificial shortages and ensure that every farmer receives the required quantity of fertilizer. He assured farmers that there is no need for concern regarding fertilizer availability.
