77th Republic Day Celebrations Held in Lucknow with National Pride and Enthusiasm

Main ceremony held in front of the Vidhan Bhavan showcased the strength of New India and New Uttar Pradesh

Lucknow, January 2026:On the occasion of the 77th Republic Day, a grand main समारोह was organized in front of the Vidhan Bhavan in the state capital, Lucknow. Following tradition, Governor Anandiben Patel hoisted the National Flag and took the salute at the parade in the presence of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Union Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary, Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, and other distinguished guests. Flower showers from a helicopter and patriotic songs filled the entire परिसर with the vibrant spirit of Republic Day.

The parade presented during the ceremony conveyed a message of discipline, dedication, and courage. Contingents of various regiments of the Indian Army along with their brass bands, Uttar Pradesh Police, Home Guards, 32nd and 35th Battalions of the PAC, Women PAC, Provincial Armed Constabulary, and NCC cadets marched with precision. This year, the special participation of a Haryana Police contingent symbolized inter-state cooperation and national unity.

The participation of students from educational institutions was a major highlight of the celebration. Along with the brass band of Uttar Pradesh Sainik School, Lucknow, girl students from St. Joseph’s College, Atal Residential School, Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya, and students from various government and private schools confidently took part in the march past. The ‘Educated Daughters’ theme presented by CMS Aliganj and the rendition of “Saare Jahan Se Achha” by the CMS Gomtinagar band received special appreciation from the audience. Amid songs like “Hum Honge Kamyab,” “Kadam Kadam Badhaye Ja,” and “Vande Mataram,” the entire venue resonated with patriotic fervour.

This was followed by a series of cultural performances by students from different schools. Students of Lucknow Public College presented a dance based on the concept of “Developed India,” reflecting self-reliance and progress. SAR Public School showcased a powerful performance highlighting women empowerment and the role of women in society. Students of St. Joseph’s College, Rajajipuram, presented a cultural performance centered on the spiritual and cultural essence of Ayodhya Dham, conveying the message of Indian traditions and respect for women.

During the grand Republic Day celebrations in the capital, cultural programs and attractive tableaux spread messages of patriotism and unity. Bal Vidya Mandir, Charbagh presented “Uttar Pradesh–Uttam Pradesh.” Students of SR Global School performed a strong presentation on women empowerment, while students of Bal Nikunj School effectively portrayed the theme “Developed India–Developed Uttar Pradesh” on stage.

For the first time in the state, more than 200 artists from nine states—Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Jammu & Kashmir, Gujarat, Bihar, Sikkim, Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh—performed on Assembly Road on Republic Day. Their colorful cultural dances based on the theme “Ek Bharat–Shreshtha Bharat” were a major attraction. Additionally, the tricolour dance performance by children freed from begging, presented by Ummeed Sanstha, drew special appreciation.

Various tableaux showcased the vision of “Developed India–Developed Uttar Pradesh.” The “New India–New Hindustan” tableau by Lucknow Public School and the tableau by the Tourism Directorate received loud applause from the audience. The tableau of the Information and Public Relations Department highlighted the state’s heritage and development through depictions of the BrahMos missile, Metro, and the Ram Temple. Tableaux by Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban), Jal Jeevan Mission, Transport Corporation, and Namami Gange depicted Uttar Pradesh’s journey of development. On this occasion, the Governor and the Chief Minister released tricolour balloons into the sky, spreading a message of patriotism among the people of the state.
