R Madhavan Calls Padma Shri an Honour Beyond His Wildest Dreams

New Delhi, Jan 2026: Acclaimed actor R Madhavan has expressed heartfelt gratitude and humility after being named a recipient of the Padma Shri, one of India’s highest civilian honours, for his outstanding contribution to Indian cinema. The announcement, made on the eve of the 77th Republic Day, marked a significant milestone in the actor’s illustrious career spanning more than two decades.

Reacting to the recognition, Madhavan said the honour was far beyond anything he had ever imagined and accepted it with deep thankfulness. A celebrated and versatile performer, R Madhavan has built a remarkable career across multiple film industries, including Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi cinema. He rose to prominence with Mani Ratnam’s romantic classic Alai Payuthey in 2000 and made a successful Bollywood debut with Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein in 2001, becoming a household name.

Most recently, Madhavan was seen in the blockbuster Dhurandhar, alongside Ranveer Singh, directed by Aditya Dhar. A sequel to the film is slated for release on March 19, 2026, adding yet another chapter to his distinguished cinematic journey.
