Lawngtlai : Home Minister Pu K. Sapdanga visited the 3rd IR Battalion at Thingkah today, where he held an inspection and participated in a meeting at the Battalion’s Conference Hall after laying a wreath at the Administrative Block. During his visit, the Minister expressed his long-standing desire to inspect the 3rd IR Battalion and praised the Thingkah community for their efforts in maintaining a well-organized and disciplined unit. He acknowledged that while the environment was pleasing, there were still significant challenges to address. He emphasized the importance of prioritizing the construction of the road leading from the main road to the battalion headquarters.

Pu K. Sapdanga highlighted the 3rd IR Battalion’s status as one of Mizoram’s most crucial armed battalions, known for its strong discipline, training, and adherence to police protocols. He stressed that despite some misconceptions about the battalion, its officers and personnel should strive for excellence and continuously improve their skills. He urged the police force to focus on maintaining physical fitness, as it is essential for their challenging duties. The Minister also warned against the misuse of uniforms, such as smoking or drinking while in uniform, and advised officers to set a positive example for the community.
During his visit to the Superintendent of Police’s Office in Lawngtlai, the Minister received a report from SP Pu R. Lokeshwaran (IPS) on the current situation in the district. The report highlighted the presence of two subdivisions—Lawngtlai and Chawngte—with five police stations and 131 officers currently serving. The district, which borders Myanmar and Bangladesh, faces ongoing challenges related to cross-border smuggling and insurgent activities. The Minister commended the Lawngtlai Police for their dedication and urged them to continue their efforts to maintain peace and security in the region. He also stressed the importance of physical and mental fitness among the police force and mentioned that the government is working to recruit around 300 additional constables to address manpower shortages.
