Commitment to Ensure irrigation to every Farm during ‘Krishak Kalyan Varsh’ : CM Dr. Yadav
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav stated that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, Madhya Pradesh has been receiving major developmental initiatives across sectors. Over the past 11 years, the State, along with the country, has undergone a significant transformation. Declaring 2026 as ‘Krishak Kalyan Varsh’, the State Government will take several farmer-centric decisions throughout the year. The government has resolved to ensure that irrigation water reaches every farm.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that Prime Minister Shri Modi has launched the ‘Ken–Betwa River Linking’ Project for Bundelkhand. Once completed, it will enable farmers across several districts to benefit from assured irrigation. He emphasised that the State Government is leaving no stone unturned to accelerate Madhya Pradesh’s progress. During the Cabinet meeting held on Tuesday, approval was granted for two irrigation projects in Narmadapuram district at a cost of ₹215.47 crore. These projects will significantly benefit farmers and local tribal communities in the Sohagpur and Pipariya regions.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav addressed a felicitation ceremony held at the Chief Minister’s residence on Tuesday evening. On the occasion, Sohagpur MLA Shri Vijaypal Singh expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister for the developmental initiatives granted to the region. Party office-bearers, local residents and displaced tribal families from Sohagpur warmly felicitated the Chief Minister.
Heritage and Development Go Hand in Hand
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that Madhya Pradesh’s annual budget has now reached ₹4.21 lakh crore. The State Government is firmly committed to accelerating industrial development, the positive impact of
which is now visible on the ground. The Babai–Mohasa Industrial Area is being developed in Narmadapuram district, which will generate employment opportunities for youth from Sohagpur, Pipariya, and surrounding areas in the near future.
He stated that the government is moving forward on the path of development while preserving the State’s rich heritage. Several public welfare decisions have been taken for the poor, farmers, youth and women. By holding Cabinet meetings at prominent locations such as Pachmarhi, Indore, Khajuraho and Gwalior, the government has also taken important decisions while honouring local heritage, including remembering regional icons like Raja Bhabhut Singh in Pachmarhi.
Adequate Water Supply for 63 Villages of Sohagpur Assembly Constituency
MLA Shri Vijaypal Singh said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Yadav, every corner of Madhya Pradesh is being equipped with irrigation facilities. Fulfilling his promise to the people of Sohagpur, the Cabinet has approved two major irrigation projects costing approximately ₹226 crore for the welfare of the region. He said that under the Bagra Branch Canal Hoz Irrigation Project of the Tawa Project (Right Bank Canal), irrigation facilities will be provided to 4,200 hectares of agricultural land across 33 villages in Babai and Sohagpur tehsils. Similarly, the Pipariya Branch Canal Hoz Irrigation Project under the Tawa Project (Right Bank Canal) will provide adequate irrigation water to 6,000 hectares of farmland, benefiting 30 villages in Sohagpur tehsil.
The tribal communities residing around the Satpura Tiger Reserve will be among the biggest beneficiaries of these projects, gaining access to both irrigation facilities and clean drinking water.
The felicitation ceremony was attended by Narmadapuram Lok Sabha MP Shri Darshan Singh Choudhary, Rajya Sabha MP Smt. Maya Narolia, Shri Rajendra Singh, Shri Mahesh Upadhyay, other public representatives, and a large number of local residents.
