Telangana Municipal Elections Scheduled for February 11 Across 123 Urban Local Bodies
Hyderabad, Jan 2026 :The State Election Commission (SEC) of Telangana on Tuesday announced that elections to seven Municipal Corporations and 116 municipalities across the state will be conducted on February 11. The announcement was made by State Election Commissioner I. Rani Kumudini, who released the detailed election schedule following a high-level review meeting with all District Collectors and Superintendents of Police to assess poll preparedness.
According to the notified schedule, the election notification will be issued on January 28 by the respective Returning Officers. On the same day, ward-wise electoral rolls of all the urban local bodies going to polls will be displayed for public scrutiny. The nomination process will begin immediately thereafter, with January 30 fixed as the last date for filing nominations. Scrutiny of nomination papers will be carried out on January 31.
The Election Commissioner stated that the list of validly nominated candidates will be published on January 31, while candidates whose nominations are rejected may file appeals on February 1. These appeals will be disposed of on February 2. The last date for withdrawal of candidatures is February 3, after which the final list of contesting candidates will be published the same day.
Polling for all notified Municipal Corporations and municipalities will take place on February 11. In the event of any irregularities, re-polling, if required, will be conducted on February 12. The counting of votes is scheduled for February 13, after which the results will be officially declared.
A total of 52.43 lakh voters are eligible to exercise their franchise in these municipal elections. This includes 25.62 lakh male voters, 26.80 lakh female voters, and 640 voters from other categories. The elections will cover 2,996 wards across the 123 urban local bodies.
To facilitate smooth polling, the SEC will establish 8,203 polling stations and deploy 16,031 ballot boxes. Additionally, 137 strong rooms have been identified for the safe storage of ballot boxes, while 136 counting centres will be set up across the state.
The SEC has also detailed the reservation pattern for the elections. Of the total wards, 864 have been reserved for women in the unreserved category, while 647 wards remain unreserved in the general category. For Backward Classes, 463 wards are reserved for general candidates and 391 for women. Similarly, 254 wards are reserved for Scheduled Castes (general) and 190 for Scheduled Castes (women). For Scheduled Tribes, 147 wards are reserved for general candidates and 40 for women.
The State Election Commission clarified that elections to three other Municipal Corporations, including the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), and five municipalities will be conducted at a later date.
