NDA Government Revived Andhra Pradesh, Set State on Path of Growth: Chandrababu Naidu

Tirupati, June 2026 : Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Friday asserted that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government had breathed new life into a state that was “on a ventilator” when it assumed office in 2024, and pledged to continue working towards transforming Andhra Pradesh into a model state for the country.

Addressing a massive public gathering at Daminedu in Tirupati district to mark two years of the TDP-led coalition government, Naidu said the people’s mandate in the 2024 Assembly elections was viewed not as a political victory but as a solemn responsibility to rebuild the state and restore public confidence in governance.

The event, titled “Two Years of Trust, Development and Welfare,” was attended by Deputy Chief Minister and Jana Sena Party chief Pawan Kalyan, Andhra Pradesh BJP president P.V.N. Madhav, ministers, legislators and NDA leaders.

Naidu said the coalition government inherited a state facing severe economic and administrative challenges, but over the past two years had worked systematically to stabilise governance, strengthen institutions and revive growth across sectors.

“The NDA government gave oxygen to Andhra Pradesh at a time when the state was struggling. We treated the public mandate as a responsibility entrusted to us by the people to rebuild Andhra Pradesh and put it back on the path of development,” he said.

Recalling the overwhelming verdict secured by the alliance in the 2024 elections, Naidu said the coalition won with nearly 57 per cent vote share and 164 Assembly seats because people wanted democracy restored and the state’s development agenda revived.

“We chose to work as servants of the people rather than rulers. Public representatives must always remember that they are accountable to citizens and must remain committed to serving them,” he said.

Launching a sharp attack on the previous YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) government, Naidu alleged that Andhra Pradesh had suffered significant setbacks between 2019 and 2024. According to him, development projects were stalled, investor confidence declined, institutions weakened and debt levels rose dramatically.

He claimed that the previous administration left the state burdened with liabilities approaching Rs 10 lakh crore and neglected critical infrastructure and irrigation projects. Investors moved away, opportunities for youth diminished and those who questioned the government allegedly faced harassment.

“The damage was extensive, but we have been correcting it step by step. We promised welfare, development and good governance, and we are delivering on those commitments through a time-bound approach,” he said.

Highlighting the coalition government’s welfare initiatives, Naidu said more than Rs 65,000 crore had been distributed under the NTR Bharosa pension scheme. Through the Talliki Vandanam programme, support is being extended to students and their families to encourage education.

He also pointed to the success of the Shakti initiative, under which women have undertaken over 710 million free bus journeys. Farmers, he said, are receiving annual financial support of Rs 20,000 under the Annadata Sukhibhava scheme implemented in partnership with the Central government.

The Chief Minister added that payments to paddy farmers are now being credited within 24 hours of procurement, helping reduce financial stress in the agricultural sector.

Naidu said welfare measures have been extended to various occupational groups and communities, including toddy tappers, stone workers, temple priests, imams and muezzins. Programmes promoting rooftop solar power installations are also helping Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Backward Classes and other communities generate additional income.

He highlighted initiatives such as the P4 programme aimed at improving living standards and the Sanjeevani initiative focused on strengthening healthcare and education. The government has also recruited 15,941 teachers through the Mega DSC exercise and appointed 5,757 police constables to strengthen public services.

On the economic front, Naidu said Andhra Pradesh has regained credibility among investors and is witnessing renewed industrial interest. The government is establishing 175 MSME parks across the state and implementing reforms to accelerate approvals through a “Speed of Doing Business” framework.

He cited the approval of a fifth-generation fighter aircraft project in Puttaparthi within 36 days as an example of the government’s efficiency. Rayalaseema, he said, is emerging as a hub for horticulture and attracting investments in defence, space and drone technology sectors.

The Chief Minister announced that a Royal Enfield manufacturing facility would be established in Tirupati district, while gold mining operations are expected to commence at Jonnagiri in Kurnool district, generating employment and boosting regional development.

Naidu also reaffirmed his government’s commitment to women’s empowerment and said efforts would be made to implement 33 per cent reservation for women in legislative bodies.

Acknowledging the support of the Central government, Naidu thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for backing key projects in Andhra Pradesh, including Polavaram, Amaravati, the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant and the proposed Railway Zone.

Congratulating Modi on completing 12 years in office, Naidu praised the Prime Minister’s leadership and said India had made significant progress in infrastructure, poverty reduction and economic growth under his tenure.

“Prime Minister Modi’s leadership has laid a strong foundation for India’s future. The Centre’s continued support has strengthened Andhra Pradesh’s development journey and enabled us to move forward with confidence,” the Chief Minister said.

He concluded by urging citizens to remain vigilant against political forces attempting to obstruct development and reaffirmed the coalition government’s commitment to delivering welfare, growth and transparent governance for all sections of society.
