Arvind Kejriwal Stands with Students; AAP Provides Legal Assistance Across Police Stations

New Delhi, July 2026 : The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Friday said it has been actively assisting students and young people who were detained during the protests at Jantar Mantar and the “Chalo Parliament” march in New Delhi. According to the party, its AAP Student Helpline (8588833548) has been receiving a continuous stream of calls and messages from students seeking assistance, and nearly 500 students and youth have been helped through the helpline so far.

AAP stated that, under the instructions of its National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal, the party’s legal team has remained on the ground, providing legal support to students in need. As part of these efforts, Kejriwal personally visited Mandir Marg Police Station, where he met students who had been detained. The party said he told officials that he would not leave the police station until the students were released.

According to AAP, following these efforts, around 70 to 80 detained students were released from Mandir Marg Police Station, Parliament Street Police Station, and other locations.

The party also claimed that several students in the Ashok Vihar area were safely escorted out, while another student who had gone missing was traced and reunited with his family.

AAP maintained that the issue goes beyond politics and is fundamentally about protecting the rights of students and young people. With this objective, the party said it has launched dedicated legal and medical assistance through its student helpline to ensure that no student feels abandoned during difficult circumstances.

The party further stated that it has consistently stood with people during public movements. Drawing a parallel with its support for farmers during the farmers’ protests, AAP said it is now extending similar support to students and youth participating in the current movement.

According to the party, the right to peacefully express one’s views is a constitutional right guaranteed to every citizen, and supporting young people exercising this right is both a social and moral responsibility.

Referring to the ongoing student protests at Jantar Mantar, AAP reiterated that no student or young protester would be left to face legal or administrative challenges alone. The party said its legal teams continue to visit police stations and other relevant locations to provide assistance, while the helpline remains operational to stay in constant touch with affected students.

AAP added that nearly 500 students and young people have already received legal and other necessary assistance through these efforts and asserted that it will continue working at every level to safeguard the rights and interests of students.
