Deputy Chief Minister Reviews AYUSH Department, Issues Key Directions
Jaipur, January 2026 : Deputy Chief Minister and AYUSH Minister Dr. Premchand Bairwa on Tuesday chaired a review meeting of the AYUSH Department at the State Secretariat. He said the state government is working with strong commitment to develop high-quality AYUSH-based medical and healthcare services across the state.
Reviewing the schemes and activities of the Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy (AYUSH) Department, Dr. Bairwa directed officials to ensure uninterrupted availability of high-quality medicines at all AYUSH dispensaries and hospitals in the state. He emphasized that AYUSH systems of medicine are extremely beneficial for public health and must be made accessible to the maximum number of people.
The Deputy Chief Minister stressed the regular organization of Arogya Melas, health camps, school health camps, capacity-building programmes, and various medical camps so that more citizens can benefit from AYUSH services. He also directed that all specialized AYUSH services, including Panchakarma therapy and Anchal Prasuta Kendras, be further strengthened to make them more effective and people-centric.
During the meeting, achievements under the National AYUSH Mission, progress on budget announcements, and future action plans were reviewed. It was informed that under the State Annual Action Plan 2025–26, basic laboratories are being established in all AYUSH dispensaries and hospitals in Rajasthan. These labs will facilitate essential tests such as hemoglobin, blood sugar, urine, pregnancy, dengue, HIV, and other investigations. Additionally, laptops have been provided at all centres, enabling the entire AYUSH Department to become IT-enabled, allowing online issuance of patient prescriptions.
The meeting also noted that essential facilities such as inverters and fire-fighting systems are being developed at all 2,019 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs (AYUSH) in the state. Infrastructure strengthening works are being undertaken, including the upgradation of 100 dispensaries at a cost of about ₹30 lakh, construction of 10-bed hospitals at a cost of approximately ₹2 crore, development of 850-bed hospitals at around ₹15 crore, and the construction of a new Ayurveda College at Chaksu with an investment of ₹70 crore. Repair works, medical equipment, and furniture are also being provided to 100 hospitals.
It was further informed that adequate availability of medicines has been ensured at all AYUSH medical centres. Recently, Ayurvedic medicines worth ₹39 crore were procured under the National AYUSH Mission, while the procurement of Unani and Homeopathy medicines worth approximately ₹8 crore is currently underway.
The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary, Ayurveda and Indian Systems of Medicine Department, Shri Subir Kumar, along with other senior departmental officials.
