Ajit Pawar Cremated with Full State Honours Amid Mourning

Pune, Jan 2026 :Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar was accorded a final farewell with full state honours today amid a deeply mournful atmosphere. His last rites were performed at the Vidya Pratishthan परिसर in Baramati. Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari, Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, and Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde paid floral tributes to Ajit Pawar.

Several other dignitaries were present to pay their respects, including Speaker of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly Rahul Narwekar, Union Ministers of State Ramdas Athawale, Pratap Jadhav, Raksha Khadse and Murlidhar Mohol, Deputy Chairperson of the Legislative Council Dr Neelamtai Gorhe, Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule, Ministers Chhagan Bhujbal, Chandrakant Patil (Higher and Technical Education), Hasan Mushrif, Andhra Pradesh Education Minister Nara Lokesh, MP Niranjan Chandrashekhar, Ministers Ganesh Naik, Babasaheb Patil, Makrand Patil, Dattatraya Bharne, Pankaja Munde, Girish Mahajan, Mangal Prabhat Lodha, Sanjay Rathod, Aditi Tatkare, Shambhuraj Desai, Jaykumar Gore, Shivendraraje Bhosale, Prof. Dr Ashok Uike, Narhari Zirwal, as well as Ministers of State Madhuri Misal, Meghna Bordikar and Akash Fundkar.

On behalf of the administration, Chief Secretary of Maharashtra Rajesh Aggarwal also offered floral tributes. Members of Parliament and the Legislative Assembly from across the state, senior government officials, and prominent personalities from political, social and administrative fields were present in large numbers. Thousands of citizens also gathered to bid a heartfelt farewell to their beloved leader.

Prior to the cremation, a massive crowd assembled at the Vidya Pratishthan premises from the early hours of the morning to pay their last respects. Ordinary citizens, farmers, youth, women and representatives of various organisations stood patiently in long queues to offer tributes, reflecting the deep emotional bond Ajit Pawar shared with the people.
