Silence on MSP guarantee, reduction in urea; Centre’s budget proves anti-farmer: Anurag Dhandha

Haryana gets nothing again, discriminatory treatment continues in the Union Budget: Anurag Dhandha

Chandigarh | February 2026 : Aam Aadmi Party’s National Media In-charge Anurag Dhandha said that the Union Budget 2026–27 presented by the BJP-led central government is a document of disappointment, injustice, and discrimination for the country’s farmers, agriculture, and Haryana. This budget clearly shows that the Modi government has neither farmers, nor agriculture, nor Haryana in its intent. Behind the tall claims of the budget, the truth is that the food provider has once again been deceived.

Anurag Dhandha said that in the 2026–27 budget, only ₹1.62 lakh crore has been allocated for agriculture and allied activities, whereas in 2025–26 this amount was ₹1.71 lakh crore. This means there has been a direct cut of ₹6,985 crore in the agriculture budget. The government may call it a “realignment,” but in reality, it is a direct attack on farmers. This is the second consecutive year that the agriculture budget has been suppressed, making it clear that farmers are at the bottom of the BJP government’s agenda.

He said that the government has remained completely silent on a legal guarantee for MSP in the budget, while by December 2025, crops such as maize, moong, urad, ragi, groundnut, soybean, and cotton were sold in mandis across the country at prices 5 percent to 30 percent below MSP. Farmers are being forced to sell their crops at a loss, and the government is sitting with its eyes closed. This silence is not mere inaction, but a direct blow to farmers’ income.

Anurag Dhandha said that the BJP government has also looted farmers’ pockets in the name of urea. Earlier, the urea bag was reduced from 50 kg to 45 kg, and now from this year, the new bag has been made 40 kg, while the price remains the same. This means farmers are getting 10 kg less fertilizer per bag. This is not reform, but open loot, which is directly impacting farming costs and production.

He said that Haryana has once again been treated step-motherly. As in the past 12 years, Haryana has been left empty-handed in this Union Budget as well. The reality is that Haryana is among the states contributing the highest GST collection and a major share of toll tax in the country. Despite this, the budget has no concrete provision for Haryana’s farmers, no major investment for irrigation, no new agricultural projects, and no special package.

Anurag Dhandha questioned the BJP government operating from the power corridors of Delhi, asking what Haryana has actually received in return. In the pages of the budget, there are only words and formal lines for Haryana, but no major investment is visible, no concrete project, and no benefit that could place Haryana in the front row of development.

He said that the BJP governments at the state and central levels together are continuously ignoring the needs of Haryana’s people, farmers, and youth. This is not just an administrative failure, but a deliberate anti-Haryana attitude. This budget is anti-farmer, anti-agriculture, and against the self-respect of Haryana. The Aam Aadmi Party will fight against this injustice by becoming the voice of farmers and the people of Haryana, from the streets to Parliament.
