CISF to Organize ‘Vande Mataram Coastal Cyclothon–2026’ in Ratnagiri

Mumbai, February 2026: The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), responsible for securing India’s critical infrastructure, will organize the ‘Vande Mataram Coastal Cyclothon–2026’ at the Police Ground in Ratnagiri on 14 February 2026, marking the 57th anniversary of its distinguished service. The event will be inaugurated by Dr. Uday Samant, Minister of Industries and Marathi Language.

Awareness on Coastal and Maritime Security

The cyclothon aims to raise awareness about coastal and maritime security, promote national unity, fitness, environmental conservation, and women empowerment. Notably, 50% of the participants are women. The initiative also seeks to educate coastal citizens on national security, strengthen coordination between the public and CISF, raise youth awareness on drug-related dangers, and highlight CISF’s 51 years of expertise in port security.

Established in 1969, CISF has safeguarded strategically important establishments across India, including refineries, airports, ports, metro rail, nuclear facilities, and space centers. Beyond security, CISF engages in public awareness, social initiatives, and community safety programs, reflecting its commitment to national service.

A 6,600-Kilometer Journey

Organized in commemoration of the 150th anniversary of the patriotic song ‘Vande Mataram’, the cyclothon will cover 6,600 kilometers along India’s east and west coasts, concluding in Kochi. Last year’s cyclothon, 2025, received an enthusiastic response from over 30 lakh participants, with 2.9 crore digital engagements recorded.

52 Coastal Villages Adopted as ‘Coastal Guards’

Through social outreach, CISF has adopted 52 coastal villages as ‘Coastal Guards’, where cultural programs, theater performances, medical services, open gyms, sports facilities, and awareness drives against smuggling and illegal infiltration are conducted.

At the Ratnagiri Police Ground on 14 February, the event will honor 40 CRPF personnel martyred in Pulwama in 2019 and specially recognize families of four martyrs from Ratnagiri district. Cultural programs will also be presented by the district cultural team, NCC students, and the CISF team.
