NCC Republic Day Parade participants call on Governor
NCC boys and girls cadets from Himachal Pradesh who participated in the Republic Day Parade at New Delhi called on Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla at Lok Bhavan today. The Governor felicitated the cadets and announced a grant of Rs. 50,000 as a mark of encouragement for the cadets.
While congratulating the cadets, the Governor said that their participation at the national level was a matter of pride for Himachal Pradesh and highlighted the role of NCC in promoting discipline, leadership and patriotism among youth.
A total of 21 cadets-10 boys and 11 girls from the Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh Directorate represented the State. Among them was Kumari Kritika Sharma, who scaled Mount Everest on 18 May, 2025 and saved the life of a Sherpa during the expedition. The cadets also shared their experiences of the month-long Republic Day Camp held in New Delhi with the Governor.
Earlier, Brig. Harpreet Singh, Group Commander, NCC, thanked the Governor and informed that Himachal Pradesh has more than 31,000 NCC cadets, of which 42 per cent were girls, a proportion higher than many other states in the country.
Secretary to the Governor C.P. Verma and other senior Army officers were also present on the occasion.
