Pawar Family Unity on Display in Baramati Amid Political Uncertainty

Baramati, Feb 2026 : Even as discussions over a possible merger between the two factions of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) continue to expose ideological and strategic differences, recent developments in Baramati suggest that personal bonds within the Pawar family remain intact, transcending political divisions.

Following the untimely demise of Ajit Pawar, the Sahyog Cooperative Society in Baramati has become a focal point for condolence visits. A steady stream of well-wishers, party workers and local residents has been arriving daily to pay their respects. Members of Ajit Pawar’s family have been present throughout, joined by NCP (SP) chief Sharad Pawar, who has spent considerable time at the venue over the past few days, personally meeting those who have come to offer condolences.

Amid the sombre atmosphere, a photograph of Sharad Pawar in conversation with his grandson Parth Pawar at the Sahyog Society went viral on social media. The image, captured during a private moment of interaction, quickly gained traction in political circles and sparked widespread speculation, with many attempting to read political meaning into what appeared to be a deeply personal exchange.

Parth Pawar, grappling with the loss of his father at a young age, has been regularly present at the condolence venue. Sharad Pawar, too, has been coping with the shock of losing his nephew, and the two have been seen together as they receive visitors and acknowledge condolences. Hundreds of people continue to visit the society each day, underscoring Ajit Pawar’s influence in the region and the family’s standing in Baramati.

During the same period, Rohit Pawar also joined the interactions, and another photograph surfaced showing Sharad Pawar with both his grandsons, Parth and Rohit. The image further fuelled political chatter. However, Rohit Pawar was quick to clarify that there had been no political discussions within the family. He stressed that the family was still in mourning and had not yet recovered from the tragedy.

Rohit Pawar added that politics was not currently on anyone’s mind and that any discussion on political matters would take place only after the completion of the ninth-day rituals. He urged people not to draw premature conclusions based on photographs taken during a period of grief.

The viral images also drew reactions from senior political leaders. NCP leader Sunil Tatkare dismissed any political interpretation, stating that there was nothing political about the photographs and cautioning against misconceptions. Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut echoed a similar sentiment, noting that family unity often rises above political differences, and likened the situation to recent developments within the Thackeray family.

Despite the ongoing split within the Nationalist Congress Party, the Pawar family’s internal bonds appear unchanged. Whether this display of unity will have any bearing on future political alignments or the trajectory of the two NCP factions remains a subject of keen interest in Maharashtra’s political landscape.
