Champai Soren Eyes New Path After ‘Bitter Humiliation

Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) leader Champai Soren recently revealed that he endured significant “bitter humiliation” during his time as chief minister, which ultimately pushed him to explore alternative paths. His comments came as he arrived in Delhi, fueling speculation about a potential shift to the BJP. On social media, Soren recounted how his government programs scheduled for early July were abruptly canceled by the party leadership without informing him, a move he described as a severe blow to his self-esteem.

Soren further alleged that he was excluded from a crucial party legislators’ meeting on July 3, where he was unexpectedly asked to resign. He resigned immediately, stating he had no desire to cling to power, but the experience left him deeply wounded. Soren expressed his disappointment at feeling marginalized within the party he had served for so long, suggesting that Chief Minister Hemant Soren, without naming him directly, appeared more focused on retaining power than supporting him.

Reflecting on his time in office, Soren asserted that he made decisions in the best interest of the public and expressed hope that the people of Jharkhand would judge his actions favorably. He also pointed out that party supremo Shibu Soren’s absence from active politics due to health issues might have influenced the situation, implying that the outcome could have been different if the senior leader had been involved.

Soren’s statements have elicited responses from various political figures. Jharkhand BJP chief Babulal Marandi criticized the JMM, accusing it of becoming a “party of only one family” and alleging that Soren’s rights were trampled upon. In contrast, JMM senior leader and minister Mithilesh Thakur dismissed the issue, describing it as a family matter that would be resolved internally.

Despite his grievances, Soren emphasized that his current actions are part of a personal battle, and he has no intention of harming the party, which he claims to have built with his “blood and sweat.”
