Review of Works Being Carried Out Under “Samriddh Udyog–Sashakt Bihar”

Patna, February 2026: Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Thursday reviewed the works being carried out under “Samriddh Udyog–Sashakt Bihar” (Prosperous Industry–Empowered Bihar) under the Seven Resolves (Part-3) at the Sankalp Sabha Hall located at 1, Anne Marg.

Industries Department Secretary Kundan Kumar made a presentation and provided detailed information to the Chief Minister on various points related to the “Samriddh Udyog–Sashakt Bihar” scheme. Information Technology and Communications Department Secretary Abhay Kumar Singh and Additional Chief Secretary of the Sugarcane Industries Department K. Santil Kumar also gave detailed briefings on the works being undertaken by their respective departments for the implementation of the scheme.

The Additional Chief Secretary of the Sugarcane Industries Department informed that the Sasamusa Sugar Mill in Gopalganj district would be restarted soon.

During the review, the Chief Minister directed officials to ensure that all closed sugar mills in the state are restarted at the earliest. He said that sugar mills in Chanpatiya (West Champaran), Barachakia and Motihari (East Champaran), Sasamusa (Gopalganj), Marhaura (Saran), Motipur (Muzaffarpur), Samastipur (Samastipur), and Sakri and Raiyam (Darbhanga) are currently closed. He noted that it is a positive development that the Sasamusa sugar mill is being restarted soon and instructed that the remaining closed sugar mills should also be made operational at the earliest.

The Chief Minister said that the implementation of the “Samriddh Udyog–Sashakt Bihar” scheme under Seven Resolves Part-3 should be completed properly and at a fast pace. Restarting old closed sugar mills will greatly benefit farmers and will also provide employment opportunities to local people. He also directed that necessary action be ensured for setting up new sugar mills in the state.

He further said that work should be carried out in a phased and systematic manner with an action plan to include Bihar among the top five developed states of the country.

During the review meeting, Chief Secretary Deepak Kumar, Development Commissioner Mihir Kumar Singh, Additional Chief Secretary (Sugarcane Industries) K. Santil Kumar, Principal Secretary (Revenue and Land Reforms) C.K. Anil, Secretary (Information Technology and Communications) Abhay Kumar Singh, Secretary (Industries) Kundan Kumar, Secretary to the Chief Minister Kumar Ravi, Secretary to the Chief Minister Dr. Chandrashekhar Singh, Secretary (Cooperation) Dharmendra Singh, and other senior officials were present.
