Telangana CM Revanth Reddy Proposes AI Start-up Village, National AI War Room at India-AI Impact Summit 2026

Hyderabad/New Delhi, Feb 2026 : Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Friday unveiled an ambitious vision to position India as a global leader in artificial intelligence, proposing the establishment of an AI Start-up Village in Telangana to serve the entire nation with support from the Centre. He also offered Hyderabad as the host city for a proposed National AI War Room, underscoring the state’s readiness to lead India’s next technological leap.

Addressing the India-AI Impact Summit 2026 in New Delhi, the Chief Minister cautioned that India must not repeat the mistakes of the past by missing the AI revolution, as it did during the industrial and manufacturing revolutions. While India has excelled in services and software, he noted, it has yet to create globally dominant technology products. The time has come, he asserted, for India to move from being merely a consumer of global platforms to becoming a producer and owner of core AI technologies.

Revanth Reddy outlined a comprehensive roadmap for India’s AI leadership, calling for progress across the entire AI value chain. This includes GPU chip manufacturing, access to green energy, robust data storage infrastructure, development of AI platforms and core languages, and expansion into AI-driven applications and services. He emphasized that leadership in AI requires sovereign capabilities, resilient supply chains, and long-term policy clarity.

A key proposal was the creation of a National AI War Room, with participation from both the Centre and states, to continuously monitor fast-evolving global AI developments and respond in real time. He said Hyderabad is fully prepared to host and build such a facility, should the Centre approve the proposal.

The Chief Minister also advocated setting up a world-class AI University, with multiple campuses across India, focused on original research and innovation rather than adaptation alone. He called for immediate steps to manufacture GPU chips domestically and to integrate India into the global AI supply chain, including securing access to rare minerals critical for advanced technologies.

Addressing concerns over employment, Revanth Reddy suggested a national assessment of AI-driven job displacement, accompanied by large-scale investment in re-skilling, up-skilling, and new job creation. To nurture innovation, he proposed the creation of a National AI Fund to support start-ups and promote youth-led entrepreneurship in AI.

For governance, he recommended establishing an India AI Council on the lines of the GST Council or NITI Aayog, along with a dedicated AI Ministry. Such institutions, he said, would frame laws to prevent misuse of AI, safeguard national security, and ensure AI is leveraged for social justice and poverty eradication.

Revanth Reddy further suggested hosting AI summits every six months in different cities to sustain momentum and strengthen global engagement. Concluding his address, he invited global and national institutions to partner with Telangana in advancing AI innovation, governance, and inclusive growth, positioning the state as a key driver of India’s AI future.
