Ponds and Water Sources to be Freed from Encroachment : CM Dr. Yadav

Bhopal, June 2026 : Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said that under Jal Ganga Samvardhan Abhiyan, conservation work has been carried out on more than 10 major ponds and over 250 wells and stepwells in Indore city. Indore, which has established its identity in cleanliness across India and globally, is now performing outstanding work in water conservation as well. He said that a special campaign will be undertaken to remove encroachments from city ponds and water channels connected to them. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav reviewed restoration and beautification works of Limbodi Pond and also performed shramdaan. He also administered an oath to people for water conservation.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that if there is water, there is a future. Water is foundation of life. Life becomes barren without water. He urged people to conserve natural water sources and maintain cleanliness in surrounding areas. He called upon citizens to save every drop of water and preserve it. On Thursday, Chief Minister Dr. Yadav reviewed restoration and beautification works of more than 100-year-old Limbodi Pond located on Khandwa Road in Indore. He said that under Jal Ganga Samvardhan Abhiyan, desilting and cleaning works of ponds, wells and stepwells are being undertaken for conservation and augmentation of natural water sources in city. He said that Jal Ganga Samvardhan Abhiyan was launched on Gudi Padwa with an objective of fulfilling commitment towards water conservation. Under this campaign, more than 200,000 water conservation and augmentation works have been completed across the state so far.

Mayor Shri Pushyamitra Bhargav said that under guidance of Chief Minister Dr. Yadav, extensive work is being undertaken for conservation, restoration and development of ponds, wells and stepwells in city. Pond conservation and development works are also being carried out under AMRUT 2.0, including stone boulder pitching, toe-wall construction, railing on embankments, eco-friendly pathways and stone benches.

On this occasion, Water Resources Minister Shri Tulsiram Silawat, MLA Shri Madhu Verma, public representatives, Municipal Commissioner Shri Kshitij Singhal, Additional Commissioner Shri Ashish Pathak and a large number of public were present.
