Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to Make Positive Decisions for Daund Development

Mumbai : A committee will be formed to develop a revised policy for constructing submerged dams in the backwater area of the Ujani Dam in Daund Taluka. The policy will be finalized after the committee submits its report.

Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis stated that positive decisions will be made in response to the developmental concerns raised by MLA Rahul Kul for Daund. A meeting was held today at the Sahyadri Guest House to discuss these issues.

Present at the meeting were MLA Rahul Kul, MLA Jayakumar Gore, Additional Chief Secretary of the Water Resources Department Deepak Kapoor, Principal Secretary of the Urban Development Department Asim Kumar Gupta, along with senior officials from various departments in Daund Taluka. The discussions included approving the project for an underground canal from Khadakwasla Dam to Fursungi-Loni Kalbhor and reviewing the report from the survey committee on water diversion from the Krishna basin’s naturally eastward-facing rivers to the west basin via the Mulshi and Koyna projects for hydropower generation. Special efforts will be made to address these issues.

Deputy Chief Minister Fadnavis also mentioned that positive steps would be taken regarding the conversion of canals from the Janai Shirsai Upsa Irrigation Scheme into a closed pipe distribution system, securing administrative and cabinet approval for canal lining work, and revising policies to address waterlogged, saline, and agricultural land issues in Daund Taluka.

Additionally, it was discussed that 1 Ha of land in City Survey 550 and 574 at Yawat, currently under the Water Resources Department, will be addressed.
