57 Students Killed, 60 Injured in Israeli Strike on Girls’ School in Iran’s Hormozgan Province

Tehran, Feb 2026 : At least 57 students were killed and 60 others injured on Saturday after an Israeli air strike hit a girls’ school in Minab city of Hormozgan Province, according to Iranian media reports.

Iran’s official news agency IRNA quoted Minab’s provincial governor, Mohammad Radmehr, as confirming that the Shajereye Tayabeh girls’ school was directly targeted in the attack. He said several students were killed instantly when the strike hit the school building.

Radmehr further stated that at least 53 students are believed to be trapped under the debris, and rescue operations are ongoing at the site. Emergency teams, civil defence personnel, and local volunteers have been deployed to carry out search-and-rescue efforts amid fears that the death toll could rise.

Meanwhile, Israeli broadcaster N12 reported that Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) commander Mohammad Pakpour was killed in the strikes. Pakpour was regarded as one of Iran’s most influential military figures and had served as an IRGC commander for over two decades. However, there has been no official confirmation from authorities in Tehran regarding his reported death.

Reports also said that an air strike occurred near offices associated with Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. According to media sources, the 86-year-old leader was not present in Tehran at the time of the attack and had reportedly been moved to a secure location in anticipation of further strikes.

A media adviser to the Presidential Office said that the President is in good health and that alleged assassination attempts by “enemies” have not been successful. The adviser sought to dismiss speculation surrounding the safety of Iran’s top leadership following the reported attacks.

Iranian news agency Fars reported that several senior Iranian leaders, including President Masoud Pezeshkian, former parliamentary speaker Ali Larijani, current Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Judiciary Chief Gholamhossein Mohseni Ejei, and Army Commander-in-Chief Abdolrahim Mousavi Hatami, are “alive and well.”

The reported attack on a school has triggered widespread outrage, with concerns mounting over civilian casualties and the safety of children amid escalating regional tensions. Iranian authorities have condemned the strike, describing it as a grave violation of international law, while rescue efforts continue in Minab to locate survivors trapped beneath the rubble.
