Chandigarh, March 2026: National Media In-charge of the Aam Aadmi Party, Anurag Dhanda, reacting to the budget, said that the hardworking people of Haryana once again feel cheated. The budget for 2026–27 presented by Chief Minister Nayab Singh is not a document of development but one of debt and false promises. The government claims one thing, while reality tells a completely different story. The state’s debt is said to be over ₹3.5 lakh crore, but the actual burden is close to ₹5 lakh crore. Even more shameful is the fact that nearly 34 percent of the government’s income will come from borrowing, and about 30 percent of the budget—around ₹67,000 crore—will be spent merely on repaying old loans. This is not development; it is a festival of debt.

He said that before the 2024 Assembly elections, the BJP had promised to give every woman in Haryana ₹2,100 per month without any conditions. Today, the same government has clearly backtracked on its promise by allocating only ₹6,500 crore for the Lado Lakshmi Scheme in the budget. If around one crore women are to be given ₹2,100 per month, nearly ₹22,000 crore would be required annually. But the budget figures themselves reveal that the government lacks both the intent and sufficient funds for women. At present, only about nine lakh women are receiving benefits. This budget is not about respecting women; it is about betraying their trust.

Anurag Dhanda said that the BJP government’s priorities have also been exposed in the education sector. According to the National Education Policy, at least 6 percent of the budget should be spent on education, but the Haryana government has allocated only 1.9 percent. There are 15,451 vacant teacher posts in government schools and more than 2,400 teaching and non-teaching vacancies in colleges. If there are no teachers, how will the future of the youth be built? This government is weakening the dreams of young people.

He further said that the condition of the health sector is equally alarming. As per the National Health Policy, states should spend at least 8 percent of their budget on healthcare, but the Haryana government has made provisions for only 6.02 percent. Despite shortages of doctors in hospitals, lack of medicines, and the poor condition of rural health centres, the government remains insensitive. Even after so many years, the Rewari AIIMS project remains incomplete. Gurugram’s Civil Hospital continues to suffer from neglect. The conditions of Rohtak PGI, Khanpur, and Kalpana Chawla Medical College have also deteriorated significantly.

Anurag Dhanda said that this budget clearly shows that the BJP government’s priority is not the people, but the manipulation of false figures. Applauding itself by taking loans and presenting incomplete promises as achievements will no longer work. The people of Haryana are watching and understanding that this budget is not meant to fulfil their dreams, but to keep them under illusion.
The Aam Aadmi Party stands firmly with the people and will continue to raise the voice of Haryana’s citizens with full strength.
