Minister Nitesh Rane Directs Immediate Opening of Rest House for Fishermen and Women Workers

Mumbai, March 2026 : The State Government is committed to resolving the long-pending issues of fishermen, women workers, and boat owners at Sassoon Dock, and efforts will be intensified to modernise the area, assured Fisheries and Ports Minister Nitesh Rane.

Minister Rane conducted a detailed review of Sassoon Dock during an important meeting held at the Mantralaya. Various demands raised by fishermen were discussed positively during the meeting.

He issued clear instructions for the immediate opening of the rest house constructed by the government at Sassoon Dock for fishermen and, in particular, for women workers. This step is expected to significantly reduce the hardships faced by women at the workplace.

Technical and administrative difficulties faced by boat owners and fishery professionals were also discussed in detail. The Minister assured that these issues would be resolved on priority.

Emphasis was laid on strengthening infrastructure to ensure that fishermen do not face any difficulties in the chain of fish landing, storage, and sale.

The meeting was attended by MLA Rajesh Rathod, Fisheries Commissioner Dr. Vijay Suryawanshi, senior officials from concerned departments, and representatives of fishermen’s associations.
