JDA Cracks Down on Illegal Encroachments, Frees 37 Bighas of Government Land Worth ₹233 Crore in Two Months

Jaipur, March 2026 : In line with Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma’s vision of zero tolerance against corruption, encroachment, and irregularities, and his commitment to good governance, the Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) has been continuously carrying out a major drive to free government land from illegal occupation. As part of this effort, Commissioner Siddharth Mahajan chaired a review meeting of the Enforcement Wing on Wednesday, assessing progress in Zones 10, 13, 14, 15, 16, 22, 23, 24, and Zone 25.

During the meeting, it was informed that following the Commissioner’s clear directives, the JDA Enforcement Wing has taken strict action over the past two months, successfully freeing valuable government land from illegal encroachments.

37 Bighas of Land Freed, Market Value ₹233.40 Crore

Under enforcement action taken in January and February alone, a total of 37 bighas of government land has been cleared of illegal occupation, with an estimated market value of approximately ₹233.40 crore.

The Commissioner stated that in January 2026, enforcement teams removed encroachments from nearly 17 bighas of land across various parts of Jaipur, valued at around ₹173.40 crore. Additionally, swift action in the first half of February led to the clearance of about 20 bighas of land, with an estimated market value of ₹60 crore. This large-scale operation has caused significant alarm among those involved in illegal colonies and encroachments.

Zero Tolerance Against Encroachers

Commissioner Siddharth Mahajan emphasized that any form of illegal occupation on government land will not be tolerated. He directed officials to ensure immediate action as per rules upon receiving information about encroachments, including filing challans without delay. He further instructed that from Monday onwards, a weekly enforcement अभियान will be launched to address all pending cases of encroachment on government property with the same intensity.

He reiterated that the JDA is fully committed to safeguarding government assets and is continuously working to ensure planned urban development in accordance with the state government’s intent.

Appeal to Citizens

The Commissioner appealed to citizens to actively participate in the planned development of Jaipur, stating that public cooperation is vital in making the city encroachment-free. For complaints related to illegal construction or encroachment on government land, the JDA operates a 24×7 control room and digital portals.

The meeting was attended by Additional Commissioner Shri Bhagchand Badhal, Additional Commissioner (Land) Smt. Pratibha Parik, Chief Enforcement Controller Smt. Shilpa Chaudhary, zonal deputy commissioners, and other senior officials.
