Namo Bharat Rail Corridor Plan: Rajasthan and Haryana Hold Virtual Meeting to Advance High-Speed Connectivity

Jaipur, March 2026 — A key meeting was held via video conference on Thursday between Rajasthan Chief Secretary V. Srinivas and Haryana Chief Secretary Anurag Rastogi to discuss the progress of the Namo Bharat Rail Corridor project. The meeting took place at the Rajasthan Secretariat and focused on financial and coordination aspects of the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) project.

During the discussion, V. Srinivas informed the Haryana government that the Rajasthan government had earlier agreed to bear the financial burden for the first phase of the Regional Rapid Transit System project as per the revised Detailed Project Report (DPR).

According to the revised plan, approximately 1.13 kilometres of track will be developed within Rajasthan, increasing the state’s project cost from ₹103 crore to ₹124.26 crore.

However, Srinivas pointed out that the Haryana government had decided to bear the project cost only up to Bawal, which would significantly increase the financial burden on Rajasthan. Due to this decision, Rajasthan may have to bear an additional ₹510 crore, despite the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) stating that participating states should contribute 20 per cent of the total project cost.

The Rajasthan Chief Secretary requested his Haryana counterpart to reconsider this decision in order to maintain the agreed cost-sharing framework. In response, Anurag Rastogi assured that the Haryana government would review the matter and communicate its decision soon.

The proposed corridor is expected to provide high-speed rail connectivity between major industrial hubs in Rajasthan and the National Capital Region. Industrial areas such as Shahjahanpur, Ghiloth, Neemrana, and Behror, along with the proposed KBNIR Township, will be directly connected to Delhi and Gurugram through the rapid transit system.

Officials believe the project will significantly boost regional economic growth, industrial development, and daily commuting efficiency. Improved connectivity is expected to strengthen trade and business linkages between Rajasthan’s industrial belt and the NCR region, while also providing faster transportation options for workers and residents.

The meeting was attended by several senior officials from the Rajasthan government. Those present included Additional Chief Secretary for Industries and Commerce Shikhar Agarwal, Principal Secretary (Finance) Vaibhav Galaria, Principal Secretary for Urban Development Devashish Prusti, RIICO Managing Director Shivangi Swarnkar, RIICO Executive Director Akash Tomar, and senior RIICO official Ajay Gupta.

The Namo Bharat corridor project is expected to transform transportation infrastructure in the region and play a crucial role in strengthening the industrial ecosystem of northern Rajasthan.
