Lucknow, March 2026 : Taking an important step toward ensuring a safe, disciplined, and inspiring residential environment for the girls studying in Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (KGBV), a special training program for KGBV wardens began on Monday in Pratapgarh, Ghaziabad, and Ayodhya.
This training is being organized with the support of NIEPA (National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration) and the Government of India.

The inaugural session of the training highlighted the role, responsibilities, and hostel management of wardens and the need for their constant development.
During the inaugural session, Under Secretary Ramniwas from the Ministry of Education, Government of India, was connected virtually. He said that Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas are not only centers of education but also platforms of opportunity for girls who come from socially and economically weak backgrounds. In such a situation, the role of wardens becomes extremely important, as they stand in the front line of ensuring a safe, sensitive, and disciplined environment for the students. He added that this training will further strengthen the leadership abilities, management skills, and sensitivity toward girls’ protection among wardens.
On this occasion, Dr. Santwana Mishra, Training Coordinator and Associate Professor at NIEPA, along with her team, also participated in the training session. She informed that during the training, wardens will be trained on topics related to girls’ safety, child protection, life skills, leadership development, counseling, psycho-social support, hostel management, and the creation of a sensitive school environment, with both practical and policy perspectives.

The training program is being conducted in various batches. In Ghaziabad and Ayodhya, the training for the first batch is being organized from 9 March to 13 March 2026. After this, training for other batches will be conducted from 16 to 20 March, 23 to 27 March, and 28 March to 1 April 2026 . Similarly, training will also be organized in phases at other training centers, in which wardens from different districts of the state are participating.
According to the Education Department, this training is not limited to increasing administrative efficiency alone. Its objective is to develop Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas as strong centers of girls’ safety, sensitivity, and leadership development. This will provide the girls studying in KGBV schools with a safe, confident, and inspiring environment, which will become the foundation for their overall personality development and a bright future.
