New Delhi, May 2026 : The Indian Deaf Cricket Team delivered an outstanding performance during its tour of South Africa, securing a clean sweep in both T20I and ODI series against the hosts. The matches, held at Sinoville Cricket Club, saw India dominate across all departments, showcasing skill, consistency, and teamwork.

The series was organised by the Indian Deaf Cricket Association (IDCA), with support from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), and recognition from the Deaf International Cricket Council and Asian Deaf Cricket Association.

India began the T20I series on a strong note, successfully chasing a target of 108 in the first match to win by three wickets. The momentum continued in the second T20I, where India chased down 109 comfortably, winning by eight wickets. In the third match, India posted an impressive total of 157/3 and bowled out South Africa for just 85, sealing a convincing 72-run victory and completing a 3-0 series sweep.

The ODI series reflected a similar pattern of dominance. India chased down a modest target of 118 in the first ODI, securing a seven-wicket win. The second ODI proved to be a more competitive encounter, but India held their nerve to chase 203, clinching a thrilling one-wicket victory and completing a 2-0 clean sweep.

Star all-rounder Virender Singh emerged as the standout performer of the tour. He was named Player of the Series in both formats and also earned the best batsman and best bowler awards in the T20I series. Additionally, he secured the best bowler award in the ODI series, underlining his exceptional all-round contribution. Sai Akash was recognised as the best batsman in the ODI series for his consistent performances.

The closing ceremony witnessed the presence of IDCA officials, support partners, and both teams. In a gesture of goodwill, team representatives, including captain Virender Singh and IDCA President Sumit Jain, presented Acting High Commissioner Banu Prakash with a signed jersey and cap, symbolising unity and sportsmanship.

Reflecting on the team’s success, Sumit Jain praised the players’ preparation and determination, stating that their dominant performance ensured the trophy returned to India. IDCA CEO Roma Balwani highlighted that hosting the series strengthened ties between India and South Africa while promoting deaf cricket as a competitive and inspiring sport.

The association also expressed gratitude to Jay Shah, Chairman of the ICC, and the BCCI for their continued support in promoting disability cricket initiatives.
