One-Day Women’s Sports Competition Held at Bahatarai on International Women’s Day
Raipur, March 2026: A one-day women’s sports competition was organised at the Late B.R. Yadav State Sports Training Centre in Bahatarai, Bilaspur, on the occasion of International Women’s Day to encourage girls and women to participate actively in sports.
The event aimed to promote sports participation among girls and women and witnessed enthusiastic involvement from participants aged 12 years and above. The competition featured several sporting disciplines, including Kabaddi, Archery, Basketball, Volleyball, and Field Hockey.

In the Kabaddi competition, the Girls Residential Kabaddi Academy, Bilaspur, secured both the winner and runner-up positions. Veer Shivaji Kabaddi Academy, Bilaspur, finished in third place, while Bilasa Girls’ College, Bilaspur, claimed the fourth position.
In the Archery competition, winners were declared across several categories. In the senior category, Sulochana Raj secured the first position, followed by Payal Maravi in second place and Maya Baghel in third. In the junior category, Nandini Porte finished first, Yamini Dheewar secured second place, and Simran Khusro came third.
In the sub-junior category, Sneha claimed the top position, Nikita secured second place, and Vinita Netam finished third. Meanwhile, in the mini category, Ekta Dhruv won first place, Neha Yadav came second, and Smriti Netam secured the third position.
In the Basketball competition, the Chhattisgarh Basketball Team, Bilaspur, emerged as the winner, while Bilasa Girls’ College, Bilaspur, finished as the runner-up.
In the Volleyball event, the Police Line Bilaspur team secured the first position, while the Rajkishore Nagar, Bilaspur team finished as the runner-up. Bilasa Girls’ College, Bilaspur, received a consolation prize in the competition.
The Hockey competition also saw strong performances from the participating teams. Team ‘A’ from the Late B.R. Yadav State Hockey Centre, Bilaspur, emerged as the winner. Team ‘B’ from Khelo India Hockey, Bilaspur, finished as the runner-up. Team ‘C’ Hockey Bilaspur secured the third position, while Team ‘D’ Hockey Bilaspur received a consolation prize.
At the closing ceremony of the event, participants who secured first, second, and third positions in the competitions were honoured with prize money and recognition for their achievements.
The successful organisation of the event was made possible through the efforts of several officials and coaches, including Assistant Director A. Ekka, Sports Officer Dr. Sunil Gauraha, Hockey Head Coach Ajit E. Lakra, Senior Trainer Rakesh Toppo, Kabaddi Coach Dil Kumar Rathore, Volleyball Coach Hargulshan Singh, Srinivas Nair, and Archery Assistant Coach APC Itwari Raj. Manmohan Patel and other officers and staff members of the Late B.R. Yadav State Sports Training Centre, Bahatarai, were also present during the event.
