Jaipur, March 2026 : Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma said that the Opposition is the strength of democracy and it is necessary to consider the suggestions put forward by the Opposition. He noted that the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly has been functioning for longer durations while following established rules and traditions. He said that the nation has been built through the contributions of many generations and that the common objective of all is to work for the welfare of the people of Rajasthan.

Praising the innovations introduced by Rajasthan Legislative Assembly Speaker Vasudev Devnani, the Chief Minister said that by writing books over the past two years, he has increased public interest in parliamentary traditions. He added that Rajasthan has a rich historical tradition rooted in strong parliamentary values.

Chief Minister Sharma was addressing the book release ceremony held at the Constitution Club of Rajasthan on Tuesday. The event marked the release of the book “Excellence of Parliamentary Culture: Two Years of Innovations” based on innovations introduced in the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly, along with the new edition of “The Unwavering Vision of Sanatan Culture” authored by Speaker Vasudev Devnani. The Chief Minister inaugurated the ceremony by lighting the lamp and unveiled both books, congratulating Devnani for his excellent writing.

The Chief Minister said that the ceremony represents a celebration of the continuous journey of democratic values and parliamentary culture. He noted that new initiatives have provided the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly with fresh energy and direction. Democratic institutions become stronger when they maintain a balance between tradition and innovation while focusing on public participation and transparency, he added.

Rajasthan Legislative Assembly Speaker Vasudev Devnani said that the Amrit Mahotsav of the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly will be celebrated with great enthusiasm. He stated that several innovations have been introduced in the Assembly to strengthen the parliamentary system and enhance parliamentary culture. He emphasized that the soul of Indian democracy lies not only in elections but also in parliamentary accountability.

Devnani also informed that more than 50,000 people have visited the political narrative museum of the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly, which reflects the growing faith of the public in democracy.

He further said that a Central Hall is being constructed in the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly and the state government has approved ₹14 crore in the budget for this purpose. He expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma for making budgetary provisions for the Assembly’s Amrit Mahotsav. Devnani added that the Chief Minister has assured that there will be no shortage of funds for innovations in the Assembly.

Devnani highlighted that several new initiatives have been undertaken in the Assembly, including the Constitution Gallery, the Vande Mataram Gallery on the occasion of the 150th birth anniversary of the song “Vande Mataram,” and the Kargil Shaurya Vatika. He also said that in the future no answers to Assembly questions will remain pending. Efforts will be made to ensure that responses are obtained for all questions raised by legislators on public issues.

He noted that the Chair of the Assembly is a position of great responsibility and once seated there, strict adherence to discipline and rules becomes necessary. He said that when a member has to be removed from the House due to indiscipline, it creates a feeling similar to that of a mother who remains worried until her child has eaten.

Leader of Opposition Tikaram Jully said that the Assembly session had been excellent and historic work had taken place. Both ruling and opposition members get full opportunities to express their views in the House, he said, adding that the Speaker’s protection strengthens the Opposition. He praised Devnani’s idea of constructing the Central Hall, saying it would allow members from both sides to sit together, discuss issues, and strengthen coordination.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Jogaram Patel said that Speaker Devnani has introduced many innovations in the Assembly over the past two years. He noted that there has been a historic increase in the number of visitors to the Assembly Museum and that public engagement with the Assembly is steadily increasing.

Government Chief Whip Jogeshwar Garg delivered the vote of thanks. Ministers, MLAs, public representatives, vice-chancellors, educationists, and other dignitaries were present at the ceremony.
