Chief Minister visits the Tropic of Cancer Science Park and gains Information about the geographical and astronomical significance of the park
Tropic of Cancer Science Park developed over an area of 5,930 square metres at an estimated cost of Rs. 8 crore
Gandhinagar, March 2026 : Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel inaugurated the Tropic of Cancer Science Park at Salal during his visit to Sabarkantha district for the foundation stone laying and inauguration of various development works.On this occasion, Forest and Environment Minister Shri Arjun Modhwadia, Education Minister Dr. Pradyuman Vaja and MLAs were present.
On this occasion, Chief Minister visited the Tropic of Cancer Science Park, obtained information about the geographical and astronomical significance of the park and interacted with students.
Notably, the Gujarat Council on Science and Technology (GUJCOST), operating under the Department of Science and Technology of the Government of Gujarat, has developed the Tropic of Cancer (TOC) Science Park with the objective of creating awareness and understanding about the scientific importance of the Tropic of Cancer and developing it as an important educational and research point for students, teachers, researchers and citizens.
The Tropic of Cancer Science Park has been developed over an area of 5,930 square metres at Salal on the Himmatnagar Highway in Sabarkantha district at an estimated cost of Rs. 8 crore, through which the Tropic of Cancer passes. The park has been conceptualised to highlight the geographical and astronomical significance of the Tropic of Cancer and to provide engaging opportunities for visitors to understand Earth-Sun relationships, seasonal changes and related scientific phenomena.
Being located on National Highway-48, the Tropic of Cancer Science Park will serve as a centre for scientific education and science tourism for all visitors. GUJCOST has invited students from all schools, colleges and universities to visit the Tropic of Cancer Science Park. The science park will remain open to all visitors from tomorrow between 9:00 am and 6:00 pm.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister and other dignitaries carried out tree plantation in the premises of the Tropic of Cancer Science Park under the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign.
The event was also attended by Secretary of the Department of Science and Technology, Smt. P. Bharathi (IAS), Sabarkantha Collector Shri Lalit Narayan Singh Sandhu (IAS), the District Development Officer and other senior officials of the Science and Technology Department and GUJCOST.
