Rajnandgaon Will Be Developed as a Model City with Modern Facilities: CM Vishnu Deo Sai
Foundation laid for development works worth over ₹226 crore, including a 2,000-seater modern auditorium
Raipur, March 2026: Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai said that Rajnandgaon will be developed into a model city equipped with modern facilities. He made the remarks while virtually participating from the Chief Minister’s residence office in Nava Raipur in the foundation-laying ceremony for various development projects of the Rajnandgaon Municipal Corporation.
On the occasion, the Chief Minister laid the foundation for several development works worth more than ₹226 crore. Congratulating the residents of Rajnandgaon, he said that the foundation laying was not just the beginning of development works but also the strong foundation for the city’s bright future.
Sai said the state government is continuously working for balanced and inclusive development of the state with the guiding principle of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas and Sabka Prayas.” He added that Rajnandgaon has an important role in building a developed Chhattisgarh in line with the vision of a developed India.
The Chief Minister said that expanding civic amenities according to the growing population of the city is one of the government’s top priorities. Through these projects, the aim is to ensure that development reaches every ward of the city.
Under AMRUT Mission 2.0, two new sewage treatment plants will be established in the city for the scientific treatment of domestic wastewater. This will prevent dirty water from directly flowing into rivers and drains, helping protect the environment as well as public health.
He also said that under the Chief Minister’s Urban Development Scheme, roads in the city are being widened and beautified, which will make traffic smoother and boost commercial activities.
The Chief Minister further announced that a large, state-of-the-art 2,000-seater auditorium will be constructed in Rajnandgaon. The auditorium will provide a new platform for the city’s art, literature, and cultural activities and offer local artists, writers, and youth a wider opportunity to showcase their talent. He said the auditorium would become a new landmark for the city.
Sai also said that special budget provisions have been made for the upgradation of the Transport Nagar area, construction of drains, expansion of pipelines, and strengthening of basic civic amenities across the city’s 51 wards.
Under the Swachh Bharat Mission, new plants are also being set up to strengthen waste management systems. The government’s aim is not only for Rajnandgaon to participate in the cleanliness survey but to establish itself among the cleanest cities in the country.
The Chief Minister said that under the guidance of Raman Singh, Speaker of the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly, and with the support of local representatives, Rajnandgaon is progressing rapidly toward becoming a model city of Chhattisgarh.
Speaking on the occasion, Raman Singh said Rajnandgaon is very close to his heart and described the day as an important milestone in the city’s development. He informed that ₹1,000 crore has been allocated in the Sankalp Budget 2026-27 for the overall development of Rajnandgaon district.
He added that projects worth ₹250 crore have been approved for the conservation and development of the Shivnath River. Several other development works have also been proposed through different departments, including the Panchayat and Rural Development Department, School Education Department, Urban Administration Department, and the Public Works Department.
Raman Singh also mentioned that ₹8.8 crore has been allocated for constructing turf and other facilities at the hockey stadium, while ₹6 crore has been sanctioned to strengthen sports infrastructure at Digvijay Stadium.
The event was attended by Rajnandgaon district’s in-charge minister Gajendra Yadav, Member of Parliament Santosh Pandey, Chairman of the Chhattisgarh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board Rampratap Singh, Mayor Madhusudan Yadav, and several other public representatives.
The approved projects include construction of sewage treatment plants, road widening and upgradation, building of the 2,000-seater auditorium, drain construction, pipeline expansion, Transport Nagar upgradation, installation of waste-management plants, and sanitation works. These initiatives are expected to significantly improve basic civic facilities across all 51 wards of Rajnandgaon and accelerate the city’s overall development.
