Dhami Inaugurates Newly Built Advocates’ Chambers at Khatima Civil Court on Mahashivratri

March 2026 : Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated the newly constructed chamber for advocates at the Khatima Civil Court on the auspicious occasion of Maha Shivaratri. The facility, built at a cost of ₹1 crore, was formally opened by the Chief Minister through a ribbon-cutting ceremony and lighting of the ceremonial lamp.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister extended his greetings and best wishes to the advocates on the occasion of Mahashivratri and congratulated them on the inauguration of the new chambers. He said the facility would become an important centre for judicial discussions and legal studies for advocates, helping to make judicial work smoother and faster.

Dhami said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, several significant steps are being taken to make the justice system more transparent and efficient. He added that the new chambers would benefit advocates coming from Khatima and nearby areas as well as the general public.

The Chief Minister also highlighted the historic legal reforms introduced by the Union government by replacing several outdated laws from the colonial era with new legislation suited to modern conditions. These include the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita 2023 and the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita 2023. According to him, these reforms are making the judicial system more effective.

He further noted that initiatives such as the e-Courts Project, the National Judicial Data Grid, fast-track courts, special courts, dedicated mechanisms for speedy justice in crimes against women and children, online hearings, and digital case management systems have brought revolutionary changes in making the justice delivery system faster and more accessible. The increased use of technology in courts, he said, has saved time while making judicial processes more transparent and secure, thereby strengthening the credibility and scientific reliability of the justice system.

Dhami added that since Narendra Modi became Prime Minister, more than 7,000 court buildings and around 11,000 residential units for the judiciary have been constructed across the country, which he described as a significant achievement. Drawing inspiration from these efforts, he said the Uttarakhand government is continuously working to modernize the justice system in the state and strengthen legal education.

The Chief Minister also announced ₹2.5 crore for the construction of 20 additional chambers for advocates.

Among those present at the event were District Panchayat Chairman Ajay Maurya, MLA Gopal Singh Rana, Municipal Chairman Ramesh Chandra Joshi, Minister of State Anil Kapoor Dabbhu, Shankar Koranga, District Judge Sikand Kumar Tyagi, District Magistrate Nitin Singh Bhadauria, Senior Superintendent of Police Ajay Ganpati, Additional District Judge Manju Singh Munde, Additional District Magistrate Pankaj Upadhyay, Bar Association President Suraj Prakash Rana, Secretary Bharat Pandey, advocate Gopal Singh Bisht, K.D. Bhatt, along with several advocates, public representatives, and citizens.
