Mohalla Event at Garhfuljhar Nanaksagar

Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai attended the Hola Mohalla programme held at Nanaksagar, a historic and sacred site located in the Basna area of Mahasamund district.

During the event, the Chief Minister paid obeisance before the holy Guru Granth Sahib and participated in a special kirtan congregation and ardas, praying for the happiness and prosperity of the people of the state. On the occasion, members of the Sikh community honoured the Chief Minister by presenting him with a traditional saropa as a mark of respect.

Addressing the gathering, Sai said that Nanaksagar in Garhfuljhar is a sacred place of deep faith and devotion, where the revered Guru Nanak Dev is believed to have visited. He noted that Chhattisgarh has long been regarded as a land of saints and spiritual leaders who have spread the message of humanity, service, and harmony. The Chief Minister said he felt immense pride and spiritual satisfaction upon visiting the holy site.

Sai added that the state government is committed to the preservation and proper development of major pilgrimage sites across Chhattisgarh. In line with this objective, Garhfuljhar has already been announced for development as a tourism destination. For this purpose, approximately ₹2.5 crore has been sanctioned and development works are currently underway.

The Chief Minister directed officials to complete the ongoing works at the earliest and expand tourism facilities in the Nanaksagar area so that the site can emerge as a major attraction for devotees and tourists from across the state and the country.

Speaking at the programme, Basna MLA Sampat Agrawal said that the Sikh community has always moved forward with the spirit of unity, service, and social harmony. He added that Garhfuljhar is not only a centre of faith for the Sikh community but also a living example of communal harmony and mutual respect among different religions.

Among those present at the event were Agriculture Minister Ramvichar Netam, Basna MLA Sampat Agrawal, Chairman of the Chhattisgarh State Seeds Corporation Chandrahans Chandrakar, Chairman of the Chhattisgarh State Renewable Energy Development Agency Bhupendra Singh Savanni, Chairman of the Chhattisgarh State Minorities Commission Amarjeet Chhabra, along with several prominent members of the Sikh community and a large number of devotees.
