Dhamni Village Emerging as New Eco-Tourism Hub with Boating Facility

Raipur, March 2026: Dhamni village, located along the banks of the Mahanadi River in the Balodabazar Forest Division, is तेजी से emerging as a new eco-tourism destination. In a significant step towards boosting tourism, a boating facility has now been introduced for visitors.

Eco-tourism refers to travel that brings people closer to nature while ensuring minimal environmental impact and respecting local culture and wildlife. Its primary aim is the conservation of forests and wildlife, along with education and providing sustainable livelihoods to local communities.

Under the guidance of Forest Minister Kedar Kashyap and with the support of Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife) Arun Kumar Pandey, Dhamni is being developed as an eco-village. As part of this initiative, the newly launched boating facility allows tourists to enjoy serene rides on the river amidst natural surroundings.

The project focuses on conserving natural resources while generating employment opportunities for local residents. Youth and women’s self-help groups in the village are benefiting from new livelihood avenues, strengthening their economic conditions.

Efforts are also underway to develop accommodation facilities for tourists, enabling them to stay close to nature and experience a peaceful environment. This will further enhance the village’s appeal as an eco-tourism destination.

Divisional Forest Officer Dhammashil Ganvir stated that the initiative is being implemented with active community participation, making it a strong example of sustainable forest conservation and rural development.

A large number of forest department officials, staff, and local villagers were present during the programme. The Forest Department aims to develop Dhamni into one of the leading eco-tourism destinations in the state in the coming years.
