Telangana Budget 2026-27: ₹50,713 Crore Allocated for Six Guarantees, Focus on Welfare and Agriculture
Hyderabad, March 2026 : The Congress government in Telangana has earmarked ₹50,713 crore in the 2026-27 state budget for implementing its flagship “six guarantees,” underlining its continued focus on welfare and social security. Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka presented the budget in the Assembly, detailing allocations for key schemes promised during the 2023 elections.
The allocation for the six guarantees, covering nine major schemes, is slightly lower than last year’s ₹56,084 crore, reflecting a recalibration of spending priorities. Among the schemes, Rythu Bharosa received a substantial ₹18,000 crore allocation. Under this initiative, farmers are provided enhanced annual investment support of ₹10,000 per acre, reaffirming the government’s emphasis on strengthening the agricultural sector.
The Cheyutha social security pension scheme has been allotted ₹14,861 crore, ensuring continued support for vulnerable sections. Meanwhile, ₹5,500 crore has been allocated for Indiramma Houses, marking a significant reduction from the previous budget’s ₹12,571 crore. The government also set aside ₹4,305 crore for the Mahalaxmi scheme, which offers free bus travel for women, and ₹2,080 crore for Gruha Jyothi, providing free electricity up to 200 units for households.
In addition, the Finance Minister allocated ₹3,500 crore as a bonus for farmers on their agricultural produce and ₹1,143 crore for Rajiv Arogya Sri, aimed at improving healthcare access. Other welfare initiatives include ₹723 crore for subsidised LPG cylinders priced at ₹500 and ₹600 crore for the Indiramma Atmiya Bharosa scheme, which provides annual financial assistance of ₹12,000 to landless labourers.
Beyond the six guarantees, the budget has earmarked ₹94,878 crore for other key schemes and sectors. This includes ₹14,000 crore for power subsidies to farmers, ₹4,343 crore for scholarships, ₹2,170 crore for diet charges, ₹3,683 crore for Kalyana Lakshmi/Shaadi Mubarak, and ₹3,000 crore for rice subsidies.
The government has also made forward-looking investments in social infrastructure. An allocation of ₹5,000 crore has been made for Young India Integrated Residential Schools, while ₹4,000 crore has been set aside for Indiramma Kutumba Jivitha Bima, which aims to provide life insurance coverage of ₹5 lakh to over 1.15 crore families. Additionally, ₹2,500 crore has been earmarked for interest-free loans to DWACRA women and ₹1,886 crore for crop insurance.
Overall, Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka presented a comprehensive budget of ₹3.24 lakh crore for 2026-27. The revenue expenditure has been pegged at ₹2.34 lakh crore, while capital expenditure stands at ₹47,267 crore.
Key sectors continue to receive significant attention, with ₹23,179 crore allocated for Agriculture and Cooperation, ₹21,285 crore for Energy, ₹13,679 crore for Health, Medical and Family Welfare, ₹22,615 crore for Irrigation, ₹17,907 crore for Municipal Administration and Urban Development, ₹33,688 crore for Panchayat Raj and Rural Development, and ₹11,784 crore for Scheduled Castes Development.
