CM Bhajanlal Sharma Reviews Ramjal Setu Link Project, Calls for Fast-Track Execution

Jaipur, April 2026 : Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma chaired a high-level meeting to review the progress of the Ramjal Setu Link Project and directed officials to accelerate its implementation in mission mode to ensure uninterrupted water supply to the public.

The Chief Minister stated that the Central Water Commission has completed the technical evaluation of the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the project. He instructed officials to quickly finalise the Public Investment Board (PIB) note required for funding and to coordinate closely with the Central Government to expedite approvals.

The meeting, held at the Chief Minister’s Office, focused on the revised Parbati–Kalisindh–Chambal Link Project, also known as the Ramjal Setu Link Project. Sharma reviewed both completed and ongoing works and issued clear instructions to ensure that all remaining tasks are completed within a fixed timeline. He also emphasised the need to begin drinking water supply through the project at the earliest.

Highlighting the importance of regular monitoring, the Chief Minister directed that review meetings be held periodically at both ministerial and Chief Minister levels. He also called for continuous supervision and monthly progress reports from concerned officials. Special attention was given to compensation for people affected by the project, with Sharma directing authorities to address these issues promptly.

During the meeting, he reviewed the progress of several key components of the project, including works from Bisalpur to Morsagar (Ajmer), Isarda to Bandh Baretha (Bharatpur), Isarda to Ramgarh (Jaipur), Khura Chainpura to Jaisamand (Alwar), and the Brahmani Barrage. He also sought details regarding the alignment of various components and instructed officials to ensure strict monitoring of all project activities.

Officials informed the Chief Minister that significant progress has already been achieved. The construction of the Navnera Barrage and Isarda Dam has been completed. Additionally, the coffer dam and drainage feeder works for the Ramgarh Barrage and Mahalpur Barrage have been finished.

They also briefed him on the ongoing construction of feeder systems from Navnera Barrage to the Mej Anicut submergence area, as well as the Chambal aqueduct. Progress updates were also shared on feeder drains connecting Mej Anicut to the Galwa Dam submergence area, and further feeder works linking Galwa Dam to Isarda and Bisalpur submergence zones.

Water Resources Minister Suresh Singh Rawat, Chief Secretary V. Srinivas, Additional Chief Secretary (Water Resources) Abhay Kumar, and other senior officials were present at the meeting.

The Chief Minister reiterated that the project is crucial for ensuring reliable water supply and directed all departments to work with urgency and coordination to achieve timely completion.
