Steps Towards a New Life: Rehabilitated Youth Move Towards Self-Reliance in Sukma
Raipur, April 2026: The Chhattisgarh government’s humane, sensitive, and forward-looking rehabilitation policy is scripting a new story of transformation in Naxal-affected regions. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, the district administration is making continuous efforts to integrate surrendered Maoist youth into the mainstream and help them become self-reliant.
As part of this initiative, a programme was held on Friday at the Livelihood College in Sukma district headquarters, where 32 rehabilitated youth were provided with employment-oriented mason kits. The event was conducted under the chief guestship of Collector Amit Kumar, who also interacted with the beneficiaries and encouraged them to move forward in life.
Collector Amit Kumar emphasised that rehabilitation does not end with surrender. “Our goal is to ensure that you achieve sustainable livelihoods, self-reliance, and respect in society. The mason kits being distributed today are not just tools but the foundation of your new life,” he said.
He highlighted that opportunities in the construction sector are steadily increasing and that masonry is a valuable skill. With dedication and honesty, the youth can become skilled workers and eventually move towards self-employment, contracting, or entrepreneurship. He expressed confidence that the beneficiaries would make the most of this opportunity and build a brighter future through discipline and training.
Through this initiative, the district administration has conveyed a clear message that rehabilitation is not merely about returning to the mainstream, but about giving life a new direction with dignity and self-respect.
The distribution of mason kits will enable the youth to access employment and self-employment opportunities in construction work, helping them improve their financial condition and support their families more effectively.
