Revanth Reddy Announces Adilabad Airport, Unveils Development Push for Tribal Region
Hyderabad, April 2026 : A. Revanth Reddy on Monday announced that the foundation stone for a new airport in Adilabad will be laid on June 2, coinciding with Telangana Formation Day, marking a significant step towards improving connectivity in the region.
Addressing a public gathering at Pipri village, the Chief Minister said the long-neglected district, once known for poor transport infrastructure, is set to witness a transformation with the introduction of air connectivity. He revealed that the state government held multiple discussions with the Centre to secure approval for the project, which is expected to boost economic activity and accessibility.
Outlining a broader vision, Revanth Reddy said the tribal-dominated Adilabad region would be developed into a hub for industry, education, and tourism. He highlighted that land acquisition is progressing rapidly for the establishment of a university in the district, with the foundation stone for the institution expected to be laid soon.
The Chief Minister also referred to ongoing efforts to enhance religious tourism, noting that ₹225 crore has already been sanctioned for the development of the Gnana Saraswati Temple at Basara. He assured that additional funds would be provided if required to complete the project and improve facilities for devotees.
Revanth Reddy further committed to maintaining close engagement with the district, stating that he would visit Adilabad every two months to review progress and ensure timely allocation of funds for development initiatives.
On irrigation, the Chief Minister reiterated his government’s resolve to revive the long-pending Pranahita Chevella Project at Tummidihatti. He emphasised that completing irrigation projects is a priority and pledged to transform Adilabad into a fertile and green region by ensuring adequate water supply.
Taking a swipe at the opposition Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), Revanth Reddy questioned the previous government’s record, alleging that little meaningful development had taken place during its 10-year rule. He urged opposition leaders to maintain decorum in political discourse.
The Chief Minister also expressed confidence in the ruling Indian National Congress retaining power in Telangana until 2034, crediting the party’s return to governance to its focus on public issues despite political challenges.
He clarified that his government is committed to inclusive development and is extending support even to constituencies represented by opposition parties. Highlighting a shift in political culture, Revanth Reddy noted that opposition leaders are being invited to official events, a practice he said was absent in the past decade and should be continued.
The announcements signal a comprehensive push by the state government to address infrastructure gaps and accelerate growth in one of Telangana’s most underdeveloped regions.
