Chief Minister Reviews Law and Order, Stresses Zero Tolerance on Crime
Jaipur, April 2026 : Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma chaired a high-level meeting at the Police Headquarters to review the law and order situation in the state, reiterating the government’s firm commitment to a zero-tolerance policy against crime. He emphasized that maintaining a strong law and order system remains a top priority, and directed officials to ensure timely investigation of FIRs, with accountability fixed in cases of negligence.
The Chief Minister said that prompt action in criminal cases is essential to deliver swift justice and relief to victims. He stressed the need to focus on preventing crimes at the initial stage itself. He instructed that responsibilities of police personnel be clearly defined and that daily public hearings be conducted at the local level to address grievances effectively. District-wise reports categorizing crimes and their disposal should be prepared regularly, he added.
Sharma also directed Superintendents of Police to conduct regular inspections of police stations, while Inspector Generals should review SP offices periodically. Senior officers were instructed to frequently visit districts to ensure proper monitoring and implementation of directives.
Highlighting the importance of strengthening the police system, the Chief Minister assured that the state government is ready to provide all necessary resources. He called for high-level daily monitoring of cybercrime cases and emphasized the need for regular communication with victims. He also directed that police personnel be given specialized training in the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and cybercrime prevention. Regular updates of FIRs, e-FIRs, and charge sheets in digital records were also stressed.
The Chief Minister further instructed officials to prepare a comprehensive plan to eliminate drug trafficking and intensify surveillance in border areas. He also called for dismantling local networks that support organized crime and gangsters.
Emphasizing the broader role of the police, Sharma said that law enforcement agencies carry the responsibility of the entire society. He noted that a strong law and order system is vital for creating an investment-friendly environment in the state. He urged police personnel to remain sensitive in their interactions with the public and to strengthen community policing by involving more citizens. He also directed that the participation of women be increased in Community Liaison Groups (CLGs).
Speaking to the media after the meeting, the Chief Minister said that the government’s zero-tolerance approach has led to a significant decline in crime over the past two and a half years. “Our aim is to instill confidence among the public and fear among criminals,” he said.
Officials informed that Rajasthan ranks third in the country in implementing three new criminal laws. The average time taken for investigation in rape and POCSO cases has significantly reduced from 107 and 103 days in 2023 to 42 and 40 days, respectively.
They also reported an overall decline of 18.77 percent in total crimes between 2023 and 2025. Crimes against SC/ST communities also saw a decline of 28.29 percent.
Police officials further stated that strict action is being taken against paper leak and exam fraud rackets through Special Investigation Teams (SITs), targeting OMR scams, dummy candidates, fake degrees, and forged disability certificates. As a result, no incidents of paper leaks have been reported during the current government’s tenure.
The meeting was attended by Minister of State for Home Jawahar Singh Bedham, Chief Secretary V. Srinivas, Director General of Police Rajeev Kumar Sharma, and other senior officials from the Chief Minister’s Office, Home Department, and Rajasthan Police.
