Unified System for Health Schemes Urged to Improve Medical Aid: CM Fadnavis

Mumbai, April 2026 : Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has directed that an integrated management system should be implemented to ensure more effective and accessible financial assistance for medical treatment through various central and state health schemes for citizens and needy patients.

A review meeting regarding the “Chief Minister’s Government Schemes Assistance and Coordination Cell” was held at Sahyadri Guest House in the presence of the Chief Minister. During the meeting, Praveen Pardeshi, CEO of MITRA (Maharashtra Institution for Transformation), made a presentation. Senior officials from various government departments were present. Joint Secretary of the National Health Authority and the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Kiran Wasaka, along with district collectors from various districts, also participated via video conferencing.

A large number of beneficiaries are covered under schemes such as the Chief Minister’s Assistance Fund, Mahatma Phule Jan Arogya Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, Ayushman Bharat, and the Maharashtra Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board. Over the past year, 5.22 lakh applications were received under the Mahatma Phule Jan Arogya Yojana and 2.18 lakh under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, with substantial assistance provided through these schemes.

So far, around ₹3,243 crore has been disbursed through various schemes. Detailed discussions were held on developing an integrated health beneficiary management system by combining central and state schemes to improve management of hospitals and beneficiaries.

To ensure effective implementation of this initiative, a dedicated “war room” has been established.
