Child Rights Commission Takes Serious Note of Nasrapur Incident, Recommends Strict Legal Action

Mumbai, May 2026 : The Maharashtra State Commission for Protection of Child Rights has taken serious cognisance of a deeply disturbing incident involving a minor girl in Nasrapur, describing it as both tragic and alarming.

Commission Chairman Sanjay Puranik stated that the panel will recommend strong measures to ensure that the accused receives the maximum punishment under the law and that justice is delivered swiftly to the victim.

To expedite the legal process, the Commission plans to suggest the appointment of a special public prosecutor and the transfer of the case to a fast-track court. These steps are aimed at ensuring a time-bound trial and preventing delays in justice.

Puranik further assured that the state government would extend all necessary support to the victim’s family during this difficult time. The Commission is also in constant touch with local authorities, closely monitoring developments and issuing necessary directions to ensure proper handling of the case.

While acknowledging the widespread public outrage over the incident, the Chairman appealed to citizens to maintain peace and uphold law and order. He emphasised that while anger is understandable, it is important to allow the legal system to function effectively.

The Commission reiterated its commitment to securing justice for the victim at the earliest and ensuring that such incidents are dealt with firmly.
