CM Devendra Fadnavis Reviews Development Works at Mayo Hospital and Nagpur Sports Hub

Nagpur, May 2026: Devendra Fadnavis on Saturday visited the Indira Gandhi Government Medical College and Hospital (Mayo Hospital) and the Divisional Sports Complex at Mankapur to review ongoing development projects.

The Chief Minister first inspected infrastructure works at Mayo Hospital. He was accompanied by MLA Pravin Datke, former Mayor Dayashankar Tiwari, Municipal Commissioner Dr. Vipin Itankar, District Collector Kumar Ashirwad, Dean Dr. Ravi Chavan, Medical Superintendent Dr. Nitin Shende, and other senior officials.

During the visit, Fadnavis reviewed key facilities including modular operation theatres in the surgery and ophthalmology departments, as well as specialised wards for sickle cell and thalassemia patients. He also inspected the site for a proposed hostel for resident medical officers.

Emphasising the importance of quality healthcare, the Chief Minister stated that patients must receive high-standard medical services, while students pursuing medical education should have access to robust infrastructure and learning facilities. He directed officials to ensure strict quality control in construction, particularly in the ongoing hostel project within the hospital premises.

Fadnavis also visited the advanced laboratory in the administrative building and reviewed the shelter facility built for patients’ relatives.

Later, the Chief Minister inspected the ongoing development works at the sports hub project within the Divisional Sports Complex in Mankapur. He instructed officials to develop the facility into one of the best sports complexes in the country, equipped with top-tier infrastructure.

Senior officials, including Divisional Commissioner Vijayalakshmi Bidari and Deputy Director of Sports Pallavi Dhatrak, were present during the inspection.

The visit highlighted the government’s focus on strengthening both healthcare and sports infrastructure in Nagpur.
